Overhyped, long-winded, and boring

I think had I read this years ago when this book came out, I would have loved it. And it’s beautifully written, but my god it didn’t need to be 500+ pages. And with so many fictional novels out there on World War II, this is not one I would find myself recommending.

Anyways, it was okay. Will definitely watch the miniseries when it (eventually) happens but this just wasn’t the book for me.

Amanda I agree; I stumbled upon this with only 2 friends saying “oooo it’s a good book” without having hype built up about it. I read it and was astounded! The hype kills sometimes all on its own unfortunately.
