it was amazing
bookshelves: sci-fi, non-ya, diverse, slump-worthy, recommend, favorites-2020, beautifully-written, 5-stars, reviewed, reread, authors-of-color, lgbt-plus, owned
Read 2 times. Last read January 17, 2021 to January 18, 2021.

I do not know how to write five star reviews.

Give me a book I hate and I’ll write a full-on thesis on it. Prime example: Just yesterday I spent one human hour on a seven-page one star rant review. And honestly? Time well spent.

But when it comes to something I truly love? I’m illiterate. Can’t read. Can’t write. Call me Jared, 19. What am I doing on this book site? Couldn’t tell you.

I WANT to scream about this from the rooftops. I want each and every one of you to read it, because it is utterly one of a kind and it’s gripping from page one and the characters are fantastic and the writing is witty and beautiful and it is…

I tried to trick myself into stating all the ways in which it is amazing, but as always I got overwhelmed and ran out of words to describe it. (The one scenario in known human existence that can get me to shut up for even one second.)

Anytime I write a five star review, I struggle to render perfection onto the page, and I just make myself want to reread.

Damn...I really, really want to reread.

Bottom line: Don’t take my insufficient words for it!!! But read this book immediately.

The Ahh I just saw this on readwithcindy’s booktube! Time travel stories are not always my favourite, but I’m leaning towards giving this a go!

Stephi I put this on my tbr and saw it at the thrift store literally a week later, so I had to buy it.
The writing is so beautiful and anyone who's considering reading it definitely should!

Cecily I'm not sure of the page number, but it was very early on for me. And I loved it all the way through.

yenni m omgyes

Nemo ☠️ (pagesandprozac) The title and the blurb tbh. I was expecting my ridiculously high expectations to be dashed when I read it, like with every other book whose title and blurb I've obsessed over, but this one just got better and better.

yenni m Can you name any and all other sapphic time travel goods?

There's The Psychology of Time Travel that I read alongside this, but didn't enjoy as much. It's a really original, female-focused slant on time travel, with a strong emphasis on mental health, plus a locked-room murder mystery. It zips along in short chapters, but overall, felt a bit YA for my taste.

Sarah Shaw Totally agree! Indescribable and an absolute delight!

Maja 🌻 I would’ve never picked up this book just by reading the blurb (it didn’t really seem like something I’d enjoy) but thanks to your review I did and I LOVED IT!! such a beautiful story and unlike anything I’ve ever read ❤️ thank you for this recommendation!

Gabrielle OH MY GOD I DID THE SAME THING literally why would i do that, it was my favorite book at the time too.... fuckin men

John You ghosted the man? Couldn't you have broken up on friendlier terms?

yenni m I just started the audio. I've slowed it down to 0.85 and have started from the beginning 4 times already. Sooooo much more intense and visual.

Also don't give this to someone you've just started dating. It gets intense FAST. Retiree high five.

i didn't actually ghost him, john, i just thought it was funnier and more succinct than saying "i expressed to him that i wasn't in the right frame of mind to be dating"
