Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices, #1)

okay. where do i start? how about with how freakin’ relieved i am that i actually enjoyed this!? i nearly wept tears of gratitude when i didnt feel indifference towards this, like i did with TMI #1-3.
that being said, this very much feels like a recycled version of TMI. there are massive similarities between the characters (i mean, will is basically jace. i get that they are related, but im not sure being an obnoxious jerk is hereditary. lol. i have a feeling the reason for his standoffishness will be explained in the other books, but still.), the structure of the story, and just the overall vibe. but this is executed so much better than TMI and really captured my attention more effectively. maybe its the new setting, the different characters (im so glad that tessa isnt a shadowhunter like clary - i think it makes her character so much more exciting), or clare has just really improved with her writing.
however, the one thing that hasnt changed with clares storytelling is the dropping of little hints/ teases to information that the reader isnt given. wow, i forget how frustrating that can be. there are so many things dangling right in front of the readers face, but the answers are never in reach. i just want to know about tessas parentage/origins and what the heck happened to will to make him so moody?! i swear, i better get some answers soon!! i guess its a good sign that im so heavily invested.
also, i know there is a love triangle brewing. i am not blind, unfortunately. but im just going to put it out into the universe that tessa should do her own thing, while will and jem (aka the most precious boy) get together. that would be ideal. please and thank you.

I agree with everything! I find the love triangles get a little tedious when they're in every one of Clare's books but I guess they must make her happy so who am I to judge, lol.

yeah, ive never been a fan of love triangles. either because the person i like doesnt get picked, or i end up liking both guys. its always a lose-lose situation for my heart. lol. so i guess i will see what happens with this one!
i hope you'll enjoy the other two books💕 in my opinion, tid is the best one in the shadowhunter chronicles

it is so good. Didn't except to like it myself. Now it is one of my favorite series
it's my favorite trilogy ever!!!!!! I started with TID and was so disappointed when continuing TMI right afterwards. If you already enjoyed Clockwork Angel you'll definitely LOVE the other two books, they are even better!
AHHH i'm so happy you loved this book ! personally, i enjoyed TID the most out of all the other shadowhunters installment (i think that it's definitely bc cassie clare's writing improved but also i love all the characters sm argh my heart). i can't wait to hear what you think of the next books !! amazing review jessica ! Yeah, I'm glad you liked this one! In my opinion, this trilogy gets better with each book. There are really big similarities between CC book series, true, that's why I understand people who didn't like TID either. However, the writing is better and there are three of my favorite Shadowhunters characters in TID ;) I can't wait for you to get your answers in the next books and I hope you'll love it! Between TMI, TID and TDA, TID is still my favorite series. I gave "only" four stars to each book because there were still things typically CC that annoyed me at times, but I really love it. Anyway, you need to read Clockwork Prince now and once you finish it you'll need to read Clockwork Princess - I'm not even giving you orders, you'll want to too much.
i think you might end up enjoying this one even if you’re not a fan of love triangles! will/jem/tessa are a special case!

And I agree with Julia, this love triangle isn't like others. I'm usually 100% done with those, but like she said Will, Jem and Tessa are a special case. Started with TID and was ruined to any other CC books because none even came close!!! This is one of my top faves! Hold on for what's headed your way!

This is one love triangle I believe you will enjoy and love..i also hate love triangles but this one is so well written..its not a typical triangle. Also, can't wait for you to find out the reasons behind Will's behaviour.

Btw I have to say, your reviews are what finally inspired me to jump into the shadowhunters world! Not TMI; I haven’t looked at those but I’m hoping I’ll like them even though you felt indifference as you said in this review! I was told I should read the first three of TMI first, so here I go! The only thing is I watched the tv show for the 1st season so I know what happens and that one of the reasons I’ve kind of been avoiding them? Ah, whatever.
