really liked it

I enjoyed reading this as a murder mystery and I appreciate the level of care that Bardugo puts into the world building and atmosphere. She builds intrigue and tension throughout the story, though I can understand why some people might find this too slow for their tastes. The dual storylines are a little hard to follow at first because there's so much to know about the world from the beginning, but I was able to get into the hang of it and just focused on enjoying watching things unravel. Character motivations could use a bit more work, but I think this might be remedied in the sequel now that the world has been set up.

Đina I am deadly afraid of cliffhangers in an ongoing or new series. Would you say that this has a huge cliffhanger or it's manageable?

Cindy It has a cliffhanger/open-ended ending involving a major character so maybe proceed with caution!

Annalisa Thank you! I was getting a little depressed seeing so many people complaining about it being boring. The beginning is slow but it gets so good!

Zainab Haider Please make a book talk on this book!!

Erin Hobbs I'm reading this now! It is a little slow at first but I'm really enjoying it. Can't wait to get further in.

Yui What helped me understand what’s happening is listening to the audiobook. However, towards the end I was like “Bardugo what in the Sam hell are you doing?”

Kristin Katsuye Okay good to know. I started to read & thought is it just me or am I too dumb to read this book? Didn’t know if I wanted to keep going with it or skip & read something else. Now that I know it starts off a bit world buildy & confusing I’ll keep going with it. Thanks for the review

Marijana Kuljis I lived this book!! And I even had to chick the wiki sometimes for clarification lol But once I got my bearings it was smooth sailing. Can't wait for the next book.
