Well, I finally decided to read the book after watching the movie a million times growing up. And it's a summery read =) I quite enjoyed it. I wasn't sure it was going to be good, but I was wrong and I just might read the other books.
Here's the thing, just don't go in the water when you know people have been killed by a shark. What the hell is wrong with people?
I wish I could have watched the movie again so I could see how much was different in the book. Some of it I don't think even happened in the movie but I'm not sure as I have lumped all the movies together in my head. Lol
The corrupt people are in the book not wanting to shut down the beach. The town would never survive the winter if they don't make lots of money in the summer. Who cares if some people get eaten. Lets just cover it up. Isn't that the way?
Then we get the ole boys out to try to kill a fish. That didn't go over too good and it was sad for the most part. But I still loved it.
If you want a really quick summer read, or a trip down memory lane, or a killer shark book, then here you go =)

Great review Melissa! Like you, watched the movie countless times, but never read the book. I might have to just to see the difference. And I *think* next week is SharkWeek on tv, which means some where, some time, Jaws will be on. :-) I only get excited about Shark Week just to watch Jaws.
Woot! Thanks for letting me know =) I haven't been watching tv much for a few months accept to turn it on for a few shows. I'm afraid it's going to die soon and I don't like any of the new tv's out there and don't want to have to get one. Lol, but I'm going to keep my ear out for shark week. Yay! You should try the books, it's a super fast read and I just liked it. =)

Yes you are going to live that long!!! You will even do those scary reads for many Halloweens more to come!!!!

Great review, Mel! I saw Jaws the first time at maybe 5 years old when we moved to the beach. I was terrified of the water after that! I do love to swim - in swimming pools, or at beaches with water that's more transparent. We had several shark attacks one summer a couple years back, which just reinforced it all for me! Xo

A classic for sure. Lol. I don't think I would read it during the summer though as I may never get into the water - salt or fresh water!

I swear Jaws was on Netflix just recently! Why would they take it off now? Hello, Shark Week. Grr. Great review even though I found the GIFs a little alarming. 😂 I really want to read this one soon, movie scared the crap out of me as a kid! 💜💜

Great review! Jaws is one of my favorite movies but I've been hesitant to try the book because I just don't know if a written shark can stand up to a visual shark. Also- I think this is based on real shark attacks in the 20s that happened on the Jersey Shore, so while I can definitely think the corruptness would have been real I don't think it would have killed that "town".

Lol, 😂 Yeah, I have the current Bob's Burgers on DVD but I liked watching them on Netflix without turning on DVD 😊 They might bring it back. Hopefully 😊
