the swamp that beckons to a chosen few who are willing to stir the mud and see what happens. thank you jo.

Jo :) One of my favorite pieces (though I love it all) is pp 4 - 6, the part that starts off "Whether bog or swamp, all wetlands have edges, rich strips where two hands clasp.." and ending with "... to sit as long as they can in the margin between the known and the unknown." I've read this to my SEED class before. In SEED we call it our "learning edge", an area we know very well, where we (willingly, in this case) put ourselves in discomfort in order to be open to change and understanding. And where in the Buddhist perspective yes, life is altogether-- the rough and the tranquil and everything in between-- there is this place where there is messiness, discomfort sometimes, and growth. I like the way Barbara Hurd embraces it.

Susan indeed.
