The Upstairs Delicatessen is a reference to a term coined by Seymour Krim, who used it to refer to his memory/memories. And that is how I decided to read this book by Dwight Garner. Turns out that I enjoyed it quite a bit - his recollections of “eating, reading, reading about eating, and eating while reading!” were generally engaging, though I occasionally was put off by the constant references to other readers, writers, and eaters that peppered the pages . 3.75 and rounding up....more
