Enid is obsessed with outer space, paranoid a bald man may be following her, and desperately worried that she is a terrible person. It’s darkly funny yet empathetic in its portrayal of our worst fears, our desire to belong, and our capacity to love. I enjoyed @emilyraustinauthor’s debut EVERYONE IN THIS ROOM WILL SOMEDAY BE DEAD and I enjoyed this one even more! Out on January 30 but it’s a January @bookofthemonth pick! (The final cover is also slightly different and I love how the new cover looks!)

How do I remain whole so that, underneath all the repetitive and the annoying and the boring, I can revel in the privilege and miracle of a perfectly messy life?”
EVERYONE BUT MYSELF is a must-read memoir for anyone who has said yes to too many things; for anyone has struggled with juggling the many demands that are placed on as as humans, as women, as mothers; and for anyone who has hoped for a gentle and kind friend to honestly share her own struggles with mental health and the little things that helped bring her back to herself. @juliewriteswords is that friend, and her memoir is relatable and wise and funny, putting words to the emotions and experiences many of us have yet find difficult to articulate. I'm grateful to call @juliewriteswords my friend and am so proud and excited that this book is now out in the world!

She could have read it by herself but we really enjoy doing a read-aloud together. This middle grade novel has everything I look for in books for my kids: the perfect amount of world building (creative and fun without being confusing); seamless incorporation of important themes like friendship, loyalty, and integrity; understandable language with just the right amount of new vocabulary; and a propulsive plot with lots of cliffhangers that made Madeleine say, “We can’t stop now!” Such a fun and creative story and one my girls will go back to again! A fabulous book by @katrinalenobooks!

I love being totally absorbed in a sweeping, emotional story, and Kristin Hannah certainly delivers on that front! The novel is set during and in the years immediately following the Vietnam War, and I felt like I learned a lot about that time in history that I had either never heard before or totally forgotten. The sections that take place in Vietnam are, understandably, intense, so if you are a very sensitive reader keep that in mind. Those were actually my favorite sections because of the sensory details and intense emotion. If you love Kristin Hannah books, you will not be able to put this down!

This is HOW TO END A LOVE STORY is an emotional love story about two TV writers with a complicated past who find themselves working on the same show. This is an enemies-to-lovers debut by the screenwriter and writer/director of two of Emily Henry book to screen adaptations! If you love romance, you will enjoy this book! It’s a quick read and I appreciated the depth that that Helen and Grant’s past brought to the story. This came out in April and was the May @reesesbookclub pick!

The stakes couldn’t be higher for Evie Porter as she desperately works to earn back the trust of her employer without blowing her cover—and tries to protect her real identity. The layers, details, and twists in this book are so cleverly constructed—one of the best thrillers I’ve read in a while! A fabulous @reesesbookclub pick to kick off 2024!

I read it completely on edge with my heart in my throat. It goes back and forth in time so over the course of the novel you understand the backstory of this woman and her family and all the events that lead up to the night of the intrusion. For fans of twisty motherhood novels and thrillers! Out February 6.
thank you @pameladormanbooks for sending me a copy!

If you are drawn to stories of international espionage and political thrillers, you will enjoy this one! It took me a beat to get into the rhythm of the various timelines, but it’s fast-paced and poses interesting questions about allegiances, career aspirations, and integrity. And I loved the female-centric twist!

ISet in 1970s Nashville, THE LAST VERSE is about a woman’s complicated past, her musical ambitions, and everything—and everyone—that gets in her way. I really enjoyed @carolinefrostwriter’s debut SHADOWS OF PECAN HOLLOW, but I know some readers found it dark. Though this one isn’t as dark, you can expect similar layered storytelling, a distinct young female protagonist, and a strong sense of place. For fans of books about music and those who enjoy exploring themes of fame and ambition. Out March 5.

Exploring themes of race, privilege, police, and loyalty, this novel is a powerful and bold look at ties across families, communities, and cultures. There’s a lot to discuss with this book and would be a great selection for book clubs. I enjoyed this one! For fans of LITTLE FIRES EVERYWHERE and SUCH A FUN AGE. Out March 26.

I tore through this one, loving the small town secrets and lies, the true crime podcast throughline, and all of the twists and turns. I am very picky when it comes to any kind of thriller, but this debut worked very well for me! I read almost exclusively in print, but this is one I could see working very well in audio as well. And it’s also a @bookofthemonth selection right now!

It’s wise, self-deprecating, humble, and incredibly honest as he examines his marriage, his wife’s infidelity, his flaws, and his own faith journey. This is the first book of @harrisonscottkey that I’ve read (although @espassarella has been recommending his books for as long as I’ve known her!), but his others are on my TBR now! I’ve heard this memoir is also excellent on audio, and I think it’d be an interesting selection for a book club, too. It’s books like these that remind me why I love memoir!

Shouldn’t she be satisfied? Despite everything, she was hollow. She was hungry.” PIGLET is a clever debut about longing and ambition, set in the final weeks before Piglet’s wedding. When her fiancé confesses a shocking secret, Piglet moves through the motions of the final wedding preparations but is deeply unsettled—and hungry. This novel is a sharp commentary on what we want and what we think we deserve, and I gobbled it up. I love @ldhazell writing and am excited to follow her career!
