I've been meaning to try this dramatized full-cast production for so long. Why did I wait this long? It is absolutely FANTASTIC! Gosh, I so love Anne Shirley! ☺️
This is a star studded cast. Marillia, is portrayed by the legendary Catherine O'Hara. Matthew, by the fabulous Victor Garber and Anne is portrayed brilliantly by the wonderful Michela Luci. If you adore Anne of Green Gables this audio is a must!

What can I say that hasn't already been said about this book? The writing is superb and the narration is phenomenal!! This book will be added to my all-time favourites shelf.
It is a very emotional and POWERFUL story. Although it is a fictional story I feel it is so important and everyone should read this and LISTEN to the message carefully! This story stirred so many emotions inside me. It was heartbreaking, frustrating, maddening and sad. There were parts that made me cringe but most of all it has left me feeling HOPEFUL. I highly recommend it to EVERYONE. I enjoyed the author's note at the end that went into detail on why she wrote the book and what she hoped to accomplish.

This was a brilliant epic family saga! 5 GLOWING stars!! It has everything I enjoy in my Historical Fiction plus it is my favourite time period! It's a long book (over 500 pages) and I listened to it. I literally could not stop listening it was that good. The story begins in East London in 1888. "Jack the Ripper" is on the loose and Queen Victoria is sitting on the throne. The setting and time period is beautifully written. Fiona Finnegan lives with her Irish family in the Whitechapel area of London. They struggle to make ends meet but are a loving family. Fiona and her beau Joe have dreams of marrying and travelling to America one day (New York City) to open and own their own shop. For now they are feverishly saving every penny they can.
This story spans over ten years that begins in London and eventually makes its way to New York City. The story is magnificently written and vividly told. I could feel, hear and see the sights and sounds around me. Fiona is a strong and competent woman! This story has so much emotion and a bit of everything from romance, to anguish and a pinch of surprise. It will easily go down as one of my favourite books! I will certainly be reading the next in this series. Someone make this into a Netflix show!!!

This just might be the best book I've read/listened to this year. The narrator was outstanding and the story and writing is so moving and incredible!
This is a story of a family who is involved in a tragic car accident on the way to their skiing holiday. The story is told by Finn, a sixteen year old who horrifically loses her life and watches over her family while they grieve and try to piece back their lives.
This is a very touching and powerful story. Extremely thought-provoking! I think this is another book that would make an excellent movie!...more

It did not seem to be my regular type of reading material but the title intrigued me a lot and I listened to the Audio. What a magnificent surprise! There is so much packed into this little book and the audio was amazing! The narrator was exceptional and I loved her different voices for the characters and how she delivered the story. I was mesmerized! At times this was a humorous book with cute little Southern idioms and then it totally went gothic and serious. Grady Hendrix sure wrote an intriguing tale! I was very excited to hear that the rights have been acquired by Amazon for a film adaptation. Cannot wait to see how these unique characters will come to life on screen!...more

I'm so happy to hear that there is a second book that is a sequel to this story. I will definitely read it. Cassie Dandridge Sellers tells such a compelling and emotional story that is heart breaking yet also heart warming. If you like Southern Fiction then this one is not to be missed!...more

What a spine-tingling tale! I was breathlessly anticipating each chapter. This is a ghost story/mystery that had a perfect setting...a run down old Motel on the outskirts of a small town in upstate NY. The descriptions were just creepy enough to cause some hair-raising moments...and what a cover. Absolutely love it!
The story is told in two points of view. Present time (2017) by Carly and the past (1982) by Viv. I enjoyed both stories equally.
I think this is the best book from 2020 that I've read so far this year. If you enjoy a good murder mystery tinged with a ghost story this is the book for you! Excellent writing!...more

I enjoy watching musical documentaries of great bands of the past (like on the old VH1 or now Netflix) and this was just like that. The narrators did a fantastic job! I almost believed this was a real band!
I'm not sure what I would have thought of the format if I'd read this one but definitely this was an excellent, well written, and well narrated (and star studded) story. Worked really great as an audio version. Phenomenal story-telling!
I cannot recommend it enough.

It is a little bit of a different writing style that I'm used to but oh what a storyteller Sally Rooney turned out to be!
I feel like the less you know about this book, the better it is. It is the story of Connell and Marianne. They grow up in rural Ireland and go to school together. He is a poor boy and she is a rich girl. It is not quite a romance but more of a character study of a relationship. The story is told over several years. I really could not put it down. It's quite emotional and heartbreaking at times and perhaps a little painful. While the ending is a touch bittersweet or undetermined, I feel it was the perfect ending to this story.

Let me start by saying I'm a devoted,"Royal Watcher." It all started when I was 11 years old and saw Lady Diana Spencer marry Prince Charles. Watching it felt like a fairytale coming true. The beautiful, young, bride with the long flowing "Princess" gown displayed in its full glory along the steps of St. Paul's Cathedral took my breath away. That started my interest and it grew into the whole British Royal Family and then eventually to all European Royal Families. (Princess Grace and the Monaco Royals were another favourite of mine too!) So, when I won this book on a Goodreads giveaway you can imagine how ecstatic I was! Well, this book did not disappoint me! I did not know that much about Queen Elizabeth's wedding gown but the cover was beautiful. Her gown was exquisite!
First off I loved the writing style! The words just flowed beautifully and I was immersed fully into another time. Jennifer Robson has a way with words.
The story is told in Post World War II time (1947) and present day.
The 1947 story revolves around 2 characters. Ann Hughes, and Miriam Dassin. They are fictional characters who work for the famous Norman Hartnell Fashion Design House in London. They are embroiderers who are working on the wedding gown of the then Princess Elizabeth. The wedding brings an excitement to England after the War. As the women work on the famous wedding gown their own stories start to enfold. The third story of the journalist named Heather begins in Canada in present time. She begins to unravel the story of Ann and Miriam in England.
This book was written and researched very well. I so loved that part of the story took place in Toronto, Canada. It was a pleasure to read about local areas and attractions. The stories of all 3 women were equally enjoyable. I was captivated from beginning to end. I would highly recommend this book for Historical-Fiction fans!
