Nothing much happens by way of action, and the timeline is fairly narrow with the exception of a quick jump in time at the end. I like Rooney’s writing and I like the way the characters gently develop in their relationships—it feels very real—and I think the ending is lovely, but I dunno. I think I will think fondly of reading this but probably never recommend it to anyone? Which seems nuts considering how popular Rooney is and how much I enjoyed Normal People....more
