IWoah this has some psychological aspects I did not expect! The Menagerie crew freedom doesn't go like they thought and things turn a different turn. Is it better or worse than where they were? Well you decide... They often get food and better clothes and aren't even in chains, except a simple collar than changes all the rules.
Some strange time jumps in this leave us scrambling to keep up but fear not, much is explained, and what isn't is intentional I think. My heart really goes out to everyone in this one more than ever before. But with a smart leader, a workaround might be possible... There are a lot of dark elements to this story but tastefully written. ...more

But still, I feel Amanda Hocking does a good job wrapping everything up. I wish a few things were different but I was an easy read with a solid pace through most of it....more

I have no idea, honestly I am really struggling to get a real feel for any characters on a deeper level. This finally gave is a bit more on Elora and Tove. Rhys is practically non-existent after the first few chapters which I found annoying as I enjoying his presence. Flynn is being a pain for everyone but I get it in a way. As for Wendy, her wants are all over the place! I liked getting to know Matt and Willa better too. Still unsure what I think of Willa though. I liked the darker twist about the Vittra but I wish I had a better feel of them, their lives, etc but I don't we ever will, short of hating on the king. I do enjoy this series for a fast-paced romp, but I wish there was more depth to it. A lot of fun for a one-time go but I don't it will be a repeat read. The final book will tell......more

It is driving me crazy how we just gets snippets of her story at a time yet it is becoming obvious that this is what is keeping the series together. I wasn't a big fan of the Beauty and the Beast stories. One of my favorite tales and it got a 2-parter in this volume and it blew it! Miss Muffet highlights Sela and her choices. The last chapter was disturbing in a whole new way and I can't wait to see how it impacts the next volume!...more

I think I like these but I am curious most about this overall plotline that seems to be slowly unfolding. Who is this woman sharing these stories and why? Part Grimm fairy tales, some with a twist, that seem to be teaching modern-day lessons to those in a similar situation. It's interesting to see unfold. I think this works well as a graphic novel. The art I am less sure of. Some of the eyes weird me out. And the women! Lol! A mature graphic novel for sure. Best for older teens-adults....more

This one continues on a crazy adventure as Tedros and Agatha must fight to regain Camelot. So many new aspects are brought in. From a strange crystal ball, surrounded in mystery to learning a cat may be more that just a cat! And Sophia is, once again, questioned more than anyone. By all but me. Honestly I really felt she has grown and matured for this book in many ways. She has come into her own and I finally sort of like her. Although she can still grate on me too lol. Tedros continues to drive me nuts. His attitude toward Sophia, his blind faith in is father and not listening to other possibilities of how to do things. My heart also broke a little in this one. There is some tragedy. Once again, I did this via audiobook and cannot say enough good things about Polly Lee's narration! I didn't even want to sit and read a physical copy. I sought out the audiobook. I have only ever done that with re-reads in the past. So this is a first! Great story, neat twists on the known tales. I can hardly wait for the conclusion!!...more

I thought the schoolmaster was bad but I think this is worse...more evil. It is easy to peice parts together but you are barely ahead of the characters for a lot of it. And if you think it is obvious early on, think again. Never were my ideas far off but until the last couple chapters they weren't spot on either. And even then, pieces are still just beginning to fall into place. Sophie. A lot of growth in her character still so self-centered it is eye-roll worthy. Hort- I wanted more of him. Agatha needed to step up more. I really thought she would put more together sooner. Tedros needs to be repeatedly smacked upside the head. I liked them bringing more characters to like and showing how happily ever after is never as the storybooks portray after the last page. I LOVE the narrator Polly Lee SOOO much! I am not a big audiobook fan but she is like listening to a theater production with the different voices, style of speech, highs and lows! Wow! ...more

But otThis does follow the new 2017 (16?) remake of Beauty and the Beast. It does have a little extra about the Beasts past and the disastrous party. But otherwise it was fairly exact to the movie. I always like my books to have a bit more, even if it is just thoughts and emotions but there isn't very much of that happening here. Some, but not much. It was very easy to visualize what was happening though. I read this as an audiobook which is perfect because the voices are so well done. It helped to bring this to life. But if you are looking for the song lyrics, forget it. No singing lol. At least not in the audiobook. Now I think we all know the story. You've likely read or heard some version of the story or scene at least one of the movie editions. It is one of my favorite tales. ...more

Stephanie Garber has a way to pull you into her stories. They are better than Legends (haha!). This picks up the very next day after Caraval. I love how no time is wasted. This story all takes place from Tella's perspective. At first this didn't thrill me as I found Tella flighty and annoying in the first book. But this changed all that. Her reasons for her actions are so much deeper than I imagined.
This book had me guessing at every characters motive. Even Scarlett's a bit! Lots of twists and added depth to the game. I definitely got swept away. No regrets. I want the next book NOW but sadly must wait for it to come out. This has assuredly taken a top spot for one of the best books I have read this year!
Upon re-reading this book, knowing each step I had a great time just analyzing the details. Especially with Jacks. One random thing I kept wondering was if her apples were edible by mortals. Were they special or does this world just have strange apples. Also, why is he always eating them? How many members or Caraval know who Legend is? How do his orders go out? Do they report back on the trades they make with Tella? I had so much fun with the second visit. Just as good as the first!...more

It brings out all the feels! It has action, romance, intrigue, betrayal, friendship and more! This one in particular made me both laugh (chicken bone!!) and cry. These characters elicit reactions from me which is always great in a book! This one had me wondering how things would turn out. Who was on their side, who wasn't..who would live, who would die? It was dark and intense for a lot of it, but there are some steamy scenes (As I said in book 2's review: I DO NOT consider this a YA novel), and mixed into it all are some lighthearted, or feel-good scenes too. I enjoyed getting to know more about the other courts and am curious how relations will play out in future books.
2020-Vindictive Feyre kick starts this off. Do not get on her bad side! Ianthe needed to suffer more though! I expected a lot more time to pass during the war. Past wars took years, but this one took so much less time. It felt more like a few large-scale skirmishes and one big battle and then it was done. Morrigan's secret story added so much depth to her character. She was a character I always struggled to understand. So now I want more on her. Azriel was another curiosity in his behavior. He is such a mystery!! Thanks goodness for more books to come!
2023- Graphic Audio: I still want more emotion from Feyre's voice actor. The grief she experiences in this is cheapened a bit in this. It was interesting that I became a bit more engaged in her friendship with Mor. Also I took more notice of Azriel, each time we get just a bit more. I think having read the next book with so much Cassian it gave me an appreciation to focus on those we still don't know much about. I also want more Amren and the other courts too. I love getting a better glimpse of some of the other lands....more

Agatha and Tedros aren't doing great, Sophie is pretending with the school master and misses her friends, and then things shift, and shift again, and again. I loved how this kept me on edge. Several questions are answered in this book and I love finally getting the history of their parents. It is quite obvious early on they are involved... Sophie and Agatha are back home but both unhappy. Sophie is struggling to be good and not wanting her father to get married to one she considers a home wrecker, and Agatha missing her prince. A wish later and their world is flipped again, hunted the find themselves back at the School for Good and Evil. Only now instead of Good/Evil is is Girls vs Boys! And the cliche's continue...
With some new faces and old ones, some characters have really changed others I still like. It was interesting to see the changes with the girls especially Beatrice and Dot. I love that I got a better feel of the inner turmoil going on with Sophie. This book she has more depth. I actually came to enjoy her character. I still don't quite like her. She is still too whiny and selfish. BUt some of it I get in this one. Agatha disappointed me a bit. She just seemed mopey for her prince but really did nothing to fix or understand what was going on without others leading the way or pushing her along. Not that she was bad, but it was a let down after the first book with her. I expected her to solve things quicker, take more initiative.
The ending has me near desperate to read the last book of the trilogy! While I could tell there was another force at work this time I didn't expect what we got! Woah!...more

Not quite a full erotica but more that direction with the constant attraction references about every other paragraph. I wasn’t able to get into the story or characters but it had some potential. So much was left unexplained and was rushed. This would have worked better into a longer novel with more story details. But this reality has fae and mythical creatures they call Cryptids. It is set in more a current day setting but back in the 1980's something went terribly wrong that has humans hating, and fearing anything that wasn't pure human. Delilah is such a strong character that I really liked. Very compassionate toward others as well. Each member of the menagerie she is brought into is so unique and had me curious to learn more about each of them. I am still not sold either way on Gallagher. He lives by an odd code all his own.
