I still enjoyed the lighthearted story of the couple who were both dumped by their partners. I liked Daphne and Miles and the way their story developed.
Is there hope for Daphne and Miles?

Someone unexpectedly dies while her friend is visiting. One of them is a literary darling and the other is a wannabe best-selling author.
I've read this premise before, but this one gets very heavy inside the publishing world, some parts were just boring and seemed to drag on (speed up the narration at this point).
This one might work better as a book club read where topics of seeking personal gain, prejudices, capitalism, plagiarism, and some internet trolling could be discussed.
There are mixed reviews, and it does have some moments of wanting to know what will happen and wanting to continue. In the end though, I wish I'd given it a skip!

Hollis and Matthew have had some rocky times in their marriage and she isn't sure if everything is okay. She is wondering what he meant when he told her they have both changed.
I really enjoyed the drama/suspenseful moments, the friends with issues, the weekend trip and time in Nantucket.

Who will survive the night?
Mindless entertainment, be prepared for some wilder than wild behaviors that make this far-fetched, and gives it a feeling of Alice, (or Amy in this case) in Wonderland, falling into a rabbit hole of fantasy, but in the Psych Ward!
Amy is a medical student and is walking on pins and needles as patients yell "Let me out of here" and sing out tunes like "If your happy and you know it take your meds" , one even gives her a knitting needle (for her own safety). But they did give her the exit code, right??
For me this one is (more silly than serious) with some pretty animated characters. The Mad Hatter could be possibly in for the night, or Spider Man may make an appearance!...more

She is there to do her best and serve patients, oops, I mean patrons. You see, she is a former nurse, currently running from her past. She also has a few screws loose! She is big on cliches, an expert story spinner, reading a Shirley Jackson (shout-out) and may even have a few souveniers from her hospital days. ...more

I had the book and the audio, but was super disappointed. So much so, that I didn't even bother to read the last story. I made it to 60% and didn't feel like wasting any more reading time.
The first story featured Jake Brigance, who is a character in his series and I've read a few of them. The beginning hooked me, but nothing much happened and the ending felt unfinished. ...more

This was action-packed, with some heart racing scenes that kept me listening. I found myself cheering Jack on and feeling the adrenaline rush as she got herself into some slippery situations, and OUCH, the wound she endured, literally gave me anxiety.
There is a lot of running! Go, go, go!
I was intrigued by the premise of Jack and her husband Gabe working as a team of pen testers. Their jobs were to find security breaches for companies so they could tighten up and prevent anyone with an intent to commit a crime from breaking in. When a job goes sideways, Jack finds herself a suspect and caught up in a frenzied race against time.
Predictable, but I was entertained and had fun with this one. I wouldn't mind a second book either! You GO Jack!

I listened to the audio and it was well done, although I'm probably not the right audience. This wasn't scary, but too graphic/gory-ish for my taste. I enjoyed the characters though and wanted to see how the Evan's women dealt with the "new arrivals" coming to their funeral parlor.
I also enjoyed the small town Texas setting. People are disappearing and Deputy Roger Taylor has suspicions and starts asking a lot of questions. Secrets, Strigoi (vampire-ish people), and fighting the un-dead made this one a rather strange and at times cringy read!

The narrator, Michael Beck was brilliant at voicing all the characters.
There is a 3 million $$ discovery and mystery that follows the money, some bad behavior, a dead judge, a break-in and more!

"being in love is dangerous..................." Someone will lose everything.
This was such a suspenseful, twisty, and addictive legal suspense thriller! I was hooked from the beginning and had a hard time putting it down (or turning it off)!
