Love the cover, but haven't been able to feel a connection with the story or characters. I also want to say that I have greatly enjoyed some of this writing duo's later releases like The Unhoneymooners which I found to be humorous & romantic. What I find hard to believe is that the same authors wrote Beautiful Bastard - a book where an intern and her boss make it clear they despise each other by constantly making derogatory, unforgivable remarks to each other to the point of being crude and offensive. After awhile, I cringed at yet another panty-ripping sex scene. I'm no fainting violet and enjoy a good hate-to-love romance, but there's nothing romantic about this story. The plot line is over-done sex, the characters unlikeable, and after awhile I just couldn't take it anymore. For me, characters have to be redeemable, earn my empathy, and have chemistry. Even if this is meant to be a fluffy, light, sexy read, it missed the mark for me. I'm so glad I read some of this writing pair's later books first so I know what they are capable of....more
