Vera Nazarian
“Once upon a time there were two countries, at war with each other. In order to make peace after many years of conflict, they decided to build a bridge across the ocean.

But because they never learned each other’s language properly, they could never agree on the details, so the two halves of the bridge they started to build never met.

To this day the bridge extends far into the ocean from both sides, and simply ends half way, miles in the wrong direction from the meeting point.

And the two countries are still at war.”
Vera Nazarian, The Perpetual Calendar of Inspiration

Saul Bellow
“I should have written you a letter, it was too late to make the deaths of my brothers an excuse. Since they died, I wrote a book; why not a letter? A mysterious but truthful answer is that while I can gear myself up to do a novel, letters, real-life communications, are too much for me. I used to rattle them off easily enough; why is the challenge of writing to friends and acquaintances too much for me now? Because I have become such a solitary, and not in the Aristotelian sense: not a beast, not a god. Rather, a loner troubled by longings, incapable of finding a suitable language and despairing at the impossibility of composing messages in a playable key--as if I no longer understood the codes used by the estimable people who wanted to hear from me and would have so much to reply if only the impediments were taken away.”
Saul Bellow

Mark Gevisser
“There is one key area in which Zuma has made no attempt at reconciliation whatsoever: criminal justice and security. The ministers of justice, defence, intelligence (now called 'state security' in a throwback to both apartheid and the ANC's old Stalinist past), police and communications are all die-hard Zuma loyalists. Whatever their line functions, they will also play the role they have played so ably to date: keeping Zuma out of court—and making sure the state serves Zuma as it once did Mbeki.”
Mark Gevisser

Rick Riordan
“I'm a Dolphin. I believe that communication can solve any problem if the parties have the will and the intelligence to learn to understand each other.”
Rick Riordan, Daughter of the Deep

Mi-ran Isaacs
“We always expect to experience things on an intimate level. We want to feel intimately, we want to love intimately, we want to breathe intimately. We invest ourselves in moments that reminds us of intimate connections and then we suffer because we are not experiencing it for ourselves. We yearn, we dream, we desire not realizing that love can be friendship too.”
Faheemah Isaacs, A Warrior's Heart

Rebecca Roanhorse
“This is... Rey!" the girl said suddenly. "And we're out of the..." She paused and then, "...Han system! We're carrying medical equipment supplies to the southern region." She grinned excitedly, clearly extemporizing. "We're expected!”
Rebecca Roanhorse, Resistance Reborn

Jamie A. Triplin
“All too often we as a Black community allow systemic entities to do character reporting and judgment casting on protests, uprisings, our slain, and family/friends of our slain. This is all an attempt to distract the public from the injustices that got us there in the first place.”
Jamie A. Triplin

“As communicators, we are complicit in the harm caused by performative communications, microaggressions, reinforcing stereotypes in our content, and contributing to damaging our brand’s reputation…. As conscious communicators, with an awareness of others’ experiences and a commitment to centering them, we are uniquely positioned to help build a truly people-centered workplace.”

Steve Woodruff, Clarity Wins: Get Heard. Get Referred.

“Whether we like it or not, as a law enforcement officer myself, I do believe that law enforcement agencies around the world and the Academies itself, takes away a young man’s or woman’s will. It tends to barricade he or she with rules and regulations. Depriving him or her of reason. It makes them less human. They no longer know reality or communication with the real world we live in.”
Alex Hartley Jr.

“Potent solar storms happen every century and we are overdue for one. All communications, electrical and electronic systems are expected to be destroyed at that time. Modern society will end for several years until it can recover from the extensive global damage.”

“Traditional public relations, internal communications, and executive communications exist to reinforce the status quo…. [T]hat means force-fitting messaging, restricting what people know to control what we want them to feel, and limiting what they do. Becoming conscious communicators by applying a DEI lens to our work means expanding the topics, options, and actions our audience can experience — making room.”

“Most people have their own unique way of looking at life, and the way they look at life keeps on 'changing.' It cannot be like 'a fixed concept' that they desperately want to hold on to. Rather, it is flowing and changing like a fluid like water and not solid like a stone. A stone is a solid, inanimate object, but the way people look at everything and the way they think in their minds is fluid, like a liquid that takes the shape of the container that it finds itself in.

This 'changing' happens according to the circumstances that they encounter in their everyday lives, the situations that they find themselves in, and the people that they interact with on a day-to-day basis. If they meet and interact with the same people and find themselves in similar situations, then their philosophy solidifies into a solid, inanimate object.

On the other hand, if they meet new people and find themselves in new situations, then their thoughts change and the way they look at life too changes. If you can understand the psychology of a person, then you can understand them better. I feel grateful to the people I have met in life who have changed my way of looking at life.
