I really loved Impulse and it earned every one of the five stars I rated it. I feel this book is so different from the first two. The books are maturing as are the characters. This was by far my favorite so far.

Silver can't seem to go five minutes without getting herself into some kind of trouble. There are times in this series that I get annoyed with her for her immature actions or attitude. But, I have to remind myself that in the life of a Mage, where most are literally hundreds of years old, she is just a toddler. This book finishes up her first full year as a Mage. Through their investigation, she is able to learn so much more about herself. About how she was conceived and about why her own mother treated her as she did during her human years. There are also more details revealed regarding Silver's failed relationship before she became a Mage. We also understand more of why it is so difficult for Silver to accept the love offered her or to trust and commit to her new relationships. I am in love with Logan Cross, and even though he is a Chitah, I believe he is so good for Silver. We also learn more about Justus and his history and what made him the way he is now. And then there is Christian, the Vampire. I really like him and hope to see more of him in the next book.

This book is full of romance, and also betrayal. Suspense and also humor. I can't wait to continue on with the next book.

One important point is that this book, different from the others, has some mature content and has crossed out of the YA territory into adult.

I loved books one and two of this series but in this case the third was not the charm! There were far too many hot/cold moments relating to Silvers feelings towards Logan and frankly I grew very weary over them. Anticipation is a glorious thing until it crosses a line into ridiculous! This play of hot/cold crossed that line near the beginning of Impulse and went so far past it that **spoiler alert** when the two did finally hook up – it didn’t really mean much. In fact Silver still didn’t seem to be ‘all in.’ So it was more than slightly disappointing.

I found myself thinking that if she could resist him that long after he did all of that.. then he really wasn’t the one for her. And now I’m still wondering if that might not be true or not. The relationship seems too one sided for Logan and leaves a sour taste.

Another glaringly obvious once you read Impulse issue is that Silver has lost her intelligence. How many times do you need to go out ALONE into the real world only to find yourself facing danger with an enemy? Um.. well with her it appears that EVERY time she goes out this happens.. and yet it's always a surprise? And she isn't prepared? And she’s not concerned at all to go out? hmm.. even an animal learns after a few times!!!

Speaking of animal – must we have even ONE MORE SCENE where Logan goes nuts about someone trying to protect Silver? ARGGG!

But let’s not lose sight of the intelligence factor. Silver NEVER learns! Silver will put herself and those she cares about in danger at the flip of a coin and not even realize or care that she is doing it! It’s like a mindless Zombie! It’s so EASY for these villains to catch her that I’m finding it pointless to read this any longer because I know in the next villain match up she will get caught and saved again and again! Imagine a hamster inside an exercise wheel.. the hamster keeps running and the wheels keep turning but neither are actually going anywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will add one last item. This author needs to pick her writing style and stick to it. She will write most of the book from Silvers POV but out of the blue throw in someone else’s POV. A character who has been in three books all of a sudden shows as one small area in one chapter their POV? Don’t get me wrong, I’m interested in some of the other characters and their POV’s but let’s do this if we’re going to do it! Otherwise DON’T! It’s not fulfilling as a reader to read one snippet never to return again! It’s hard to become invested when the train derails once or twice in a book! Let’s be consistent!

Can you tell I’m frustrated by now? I’ve spent three books reading for THIS?! In all honesty if I had started with this book I would not suggest this series or read more. However, since I really enjoyed the first two I will hold off on deciding whether I’ll read book four for the descriptions to be revealed. I’m rooting for Justus to find someone.. hopefully he’ll do that in book four.

Silver is living in Cognito with her Ghuardian, Justus. She is obviously falling madly in love with Logan (any alpha loving female couldn’t help herself- LOGAN IS YUMMY). She is offered a position by the Mageri for her excellent abilities (hence her new body guard Christian the vampire). But Breed keep attacking her and she’s getting really tired of being the target.

Justin, Silver and Simon find a mystery box that contains secrets that just might destroy Silver. Some will do anything to possess this box, some want the contents to go away forever and if what’s inside is revealed Silver will have an even bigger target on her back.

Dannika Dark has once again written a riveting story. Action packed, non-stop roller coaster of deep emotional connections, fabulous witty banter and characters you can help but love…Impulse had it all. The plot twists and turns and you never know where we are going to end up. Another 5 stars for book #3 in the Mageri series.

One of the things I enjoy about this series is how Dark continues to flesh out the supernatural world and further the overall arc development. In IMPULSE we learn more about Silver from her childhood to surprising information about her birth.

The story surrounds a box Silver took in the previous book. Simon and the others have been investigating its contents, and it leads to some disturbing discoveries. The story takes place about a year after the previous book, and we see development in Silver's romance with her enemy Logan Cross. While the gang is still working to bring down the dark forces who attacked Silver, the case just got a lot more complicated. As they investigate, we discover that corruption and evil are seeded within the Mageri. All of the threads tie into the series ARC, and it makes you realize how very little we know.

Danger, suspense, life and death moments, rivalries and alpha moments might just make Silver crazy. Silver is slowly making a place for herself and coming to terms with her new life, but she struggles with some of the backward laws, and I am right there with her. We had some real nail-biting moments. There are some archaic laws within the Breeds, and they continue to frustrate me. I will be curious to see if Silver can change any of these. She certainly makes an impact on the men who surround her.

I love how Dark continues to develop the characters. We gain insight in Justus, Silver's Ghuardian. Have I mentioned I love this uptight man? Simon is a constant source of laughter. I wept for Adam and wanted to slay a particular female. Christopher a vampire is sure to become a new favorite. The man made me laugh and is a combination of Justin and Simon personality wise. Then there is Logan the Chitah who loves Silver. The man is quite patient and can feed me anytime!

For fans of the series, we are rewarded with some answers and left with new questions. Since this is an urban fantasy, the series is best listened to in order.

Hmmm . . . I'm getting used to loving Ms. Dark's writing, and in the latest installment of her Mageri series there was lots of character development, both individually and relationally (is that a word?), but plot-wise it seemed a little scattered. In the first book, Zoe got turned into a mage by a bad man and that bad man got his. In the second book another bad mage was after Silver (no-longer-named-Zoe) and captured her, but she got away and raised a lot of hell. In this one there was the main plot that switched back-and-forth between bad guys, and several secondary plots that at times seemed to overwhelm the main plot and leave it in the dust, so that I was actually surprised when it (the main plot) crept back up again.

That being said I still really enjoyed it. I love the characters. I love the way they interact. I love Christian--he cracks me up. I love that we now have more information about what makes Silver so exceptional. I love all the new ways to speculate about future reveals. And maybe the plot seems less direct than normal b/c I devoured the book in oh, 10 or 12 hours. I'll reread it in a week or two and maybe it will flow in a way that this reading did not. That happens to me sometimes.

Sidenote--Silver's "father" was a mage named Grady. $20 says that it's Marco (de Gradi)!!

This book was really good, and this series is really good and entertaining. In this book soooooooooooo much much much happens. Way too much. Wow it's overwhelming. I just love everything I'm so glad I get to read these back to back. The relationship between Silver and Logan is growing they find out several things about Silver, about the benefactor, and what his plans are. Who backs him who isn't on their team so much. Wow. Just wow. On to the next one!!

Side note Logan sort of reminds me of Curran.....

New mysteries, and more dangerous situations for Silver. Also lots of romance, and some important decisions to made. I especially loved the final paragraph with Silver and her Ghuardian!

This and other reviews can also be found on my blog: (un)Conventional Bookviews.

Impulse is a very apt name for the third book in the Mageri series! We get to know more about Silver, her birth, her childhood, and why she is sometimes not doing what her impulse is telling her to do! We also get to know a lot more about Justus and his own brand of impulse control. It was amazing to get more back-story on Justus, it explains so much about the way he treats Silver, and also the way he treats the women he’s with.

There is also a lot of action in Impulse, both with fights and with the budding romantic relationship between Logan and Silver. I sure have a soft spot for Logan! I know I would never be able to have a relationship with a man like him in real life, but I love reading about him and Silver. The reverence with which he treats her is heart-warming. And I love his loyalty and his honesty. Logan is also dealing with his own impulses, he is used to listening to his instincts, and to realize that he might have to act a little differently around Silver than he would with a Chitah woman is eye-opening.

In book 3 of this series, Silver is still fighting the 'double standards' of her new world, still in love with her 'enemy'...bad boy Logan, one hot guy! Then there is Adam, sigh. Even Justus has become even more awesome! Silver??? Love her guts and snark! ALL of the characters have grown, become more mature, dimensional. You learn so much more about how they came to be the way they are. This is a 'must read' for paranormal lovers!

I highly recommend this series.  Loved 'Impulse', the 3rd book in this series which just gets better and better.  Dannika Dark does such a great job with character development.  She's created an interesting believable world and characters that you want to hang out with, and learn more and more about.

There's a fairly large cast of characters, all interesting.  Aside from the 4-5 lead characters, some of the secondary characters have pretty significant roles too.  All handled so well, you can picture each person - there's no confusion about who is who.  The story is based around Silver, a newly made Mage and those that teach and support her and have become her family.  She's definitely surrounded by some very hot and hunky 'men'.  They're part of the Breed, which is made up of various supernaturals, from Mage to Vampires, Chita (Logan, whew!), Sensors, Shifters....all living in the same world as humans, but hiding their uniqueness and living with their own laws and enforcers.

There's a continuing storyline so books need to be read in order.  There is great evil among them,  affecting/threatening Silver and her close knit group of friends and mentors.  So there is mystery, intrigue, action, humor and romance.

The dialogue is handled seamlessly and the humor and banter flows naturally.  There are laugh out loud moments (Simon is frequently involved!) and tender moments, from many.  Plus the the relationship and passion building between Silver and Logan makes me want the next book. Right. Now!  It's nice too that there are other relationships developing or possibly on the horizon, that don't take away from Silver & Logan's romance.

And let me just say, Silver has a lot of willpower! She tries to work through her feelings, as Logan sets his sights on her, and yes! Proclaims it to all!  SOLD!! I'm buyin' what he's sellin'!!
Logan is determine to prove he's a man of worth, despite and maybe because of his past, and that he is her true mate.  Which makes things interesting since the Mage & Chita are typically enemies. It's all so good!

In this installment we're introduced to a couple of new characters, Christian & Page, that I hope to see more of, especially the Vampire guard, Christian.  His dry, grumpy, get over yourself humor is a nice addition.  Between he, Simon & Levi, we're sure to have laughs and outrageousness.

I'm looking so forward to the next book...can't wait to see where this goes and what happens next!!!

Dannika Dark continues to enthrall me with this third book in her Mageri series. This installment dips a little more into the romance than the first two did. Maybe because Silver is finally getting a chance to explore a real relationship with just one man. Let me just say again how much I adore Logan and the dynamic between these two. It is really the heart of this book, even though there is some action on the side.

Logan is slowly and methodically courting Silver now in the ways of his people. They do not take physical intimacy lightly. It is a commitment. He wants Silver for a lifetime. Meanwhile, though, the yearly gathering is about to take place. For the Chitah, it is an opportunity to look for a soulmate and Silver worries that she is keeping Logan from his destiny.

There is another new player in the game, a vampire named Christian. Thankfully, this is not another potential love interest. He is a bit of a foil at first, but ends up joining the fold of Silver’s makeshift family. That family is what makes this book shine. It not only focuses on her romance with Logan, but also the ties she has with Justus. These two have such a bond and now we finally get to see a little bit about the life that made him who he is.

There’s also more on Adam. His life is changing so much with his entrance into the mage world. This poor guy has really been through the wringer and he deserves some happiness. There was a small part of me that felt sorry for him over the course of these books because he seemed to carry the torch for Silver. But I just love her with Logan so much that I can’t see Adam as the end game right now. Justice has turned more into a father figure. But I can’t see her having a long-term happy ending with a member of another species. I’m so scared that Logan is going to end up dead, although I suppose there’s a chance she might evolve with her interesting DNA.

I am full of questions and speculation and I am already excited to jump in to book four.

As I mentioned, there is a little bit of movement here in the bigger story. We are learning more about Marco and the evil Nero is still plotting to get silver in his clutches. There is also a bad Chitah marking up the works for our main couple.

This is such a fun series. I am inhaling one book after another.

Dannika Dark hit it out of the park with this third installment of the Mageri series. The plot is continuing to flow and moving in new and totally surprising directions; ones that were not readily apparent and so came as wonderful surprises.

The characters are continuing to evolve in a completely believable manner.....nothing seems forced or awkward. I'm even more in love with Justus now than I have been for the past 2 books ;-) Silver's evolution is incredible from physical, mental, emotional and in her Mage gifts/skills. Logan....well what can you say about the totally hot Chitah other than "Me Likey"! Simon continues as our resident bad boy, but glimpses into his past continue to reveal many different sides to this complex man. The introduction of Christian, the Vampire, and Page, the Relic, was done smoothly, yet intricately. I can't wait to see more from them and my hopes of Justus and Page?!?! Maybe, maybe not......only the author knows.

I cannot recommend this series enough. It's a wonderful read and you will fall in love with the world of the Mageri.

What a glorious read! Sterling and Twist were so great. But in my opinion, Impulse blew them out of the water! The characters are changing and growing. It was great to be able to get a little more background one character in particular. I laughed, I cried, my heart broke, my heart soared! I didn't think I could love the characters in this book more than I already did, but I find myself loving them even more. Dannika Dark hit a serious home run with this book! I can't wait for the next one to see where these characters go.

Unlike the previous 2 books in this series, this one is a solid 4 stars. Silver seems to be getting a touch smarter and has fewer TSTL moments.

Honestly, I read on to and through the next one so fast, that I can't rightly say much about this one. But, that statement right there is about all you need to know. :)

“You see, you don't know what life is going to deal you, but you have to learn how to deal with life. Fuck rolling with the punches -learn to punch back.”

This series just gets better and better by the book, I'm absolutely in thrall, LOVE IT!! Full of action, suspense, surprises & amazing characters. Silver & her totally screwed up life just breaks my heart, this girl just cannot catch a break. Every time something good happens in her life it ends in disaster. And Adam, I wont say why but I wept for this man & wanted to shake the hell outta him at the same time. Logan is hott as ever & Simon is his usual dirty self. I love that man!!

The open bar offered a variety of beverages, and I laughed when we passed an ice sculpture of a nude couple and Simon made a seductive moan.
“Don't even think about licking it.”
“Can't say a woman ever said that to me before.”

Silver's relationship with Justus just gets deeper and more spectacular by the book. I don't EVER want her to move out. We actually get to jump into his head a few times in this book & I loved every second of it. They still have their struggles but I love watching their relationship grow.

“ We're stubborn and we fight, but I care for you. I respect the man that you are and despite your horrendous table manners, you're an excellent Ghuardian. We're more alike than I think either of us will admit to. You have issues with personal space -I get it. Someone broke my trust a long time ago and that's what I have to deal with. It may not seem like it, but I trust you emphatically.”....
“I want nothing more than to see you happy, even if I do make you miserable.”

We get to know Finn a little better & I couldn’t be happier. It was nice seeing him adjust to life outside slavery, he's a good kid. The character that took me by surprise the most was Christian the vampire. I did not like him much at all at first, but slowly he grew on me & you realize there just may be a decent guy buried underneath all that snark. And the more time I spend with Novice, the more I just love him. Typical for the mageri world, the villains are truly horrific. Seriously, they are the things nightmares are made of.

Now I know I'm probably gonna get lynched for this, but there is something I just have to get off my chest. I can honestly say I am not a fan of Silver & Logan as a couple. I realize I probably just signed my death wish, I know lots of people love them together, just not me. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, so please just hear me out before I'm lobotomized. First off, this has nothing to do with Logan himself, I love Logan. He's sweet, hott & totally bad-ass alpha, which is SO my thing, I just don't think he's whats best for Silver. I could also care less about the mixing of the breeds, it has nothing to do with that, the ignorant shifters & fellow cheetahs throwing insults around in this book can suck it. The two things that turn me off most about their relationship are 1) the fact that Silver can never give him children. It's been made quite clear that children are a really big deal for his race & the fact that they can never have any together will eventually cause resentment. 2) She can never truly be herself with him. She can't even touch him during sex & has to somewhat detach herself emotionally during sex so she doesn’t electrocute him & that is a very big deal for me. She should be able to just let go & BE SILVER, but she can't, not completely anyway. That makes me sad for her. Now these are just my opinions & don't mean a whole lot, I just had to lay my heart out there. To each their own, I don't begrudge anyone who wants them together, it just doesn’t work for me personally. Unfortunately (for me anyway) I can already tell they will end up staying together after all this comes to an end, that is just something I will have to live with.

All in all, I am totally addicted to this series & CANNOT WAIT to see where this brilliant author takes me next.

Dannika takes on another wild ride in this tale. Silver is just getting ready to "celebrate" her first birthday as a mage. She's got a great guy named Logan Cross, and she is surround by people who care about her for the first time in her life. But that doesn't mean life is simple. Oh no. Nero is still out to get her. Silver also learns who she really is and what that means for her future.

So much to talk about. But I can't because I don't want to spoil this series. After two weeks you should have at least picked up Sterling by now. Seriously, such a good series. It's got all the right elements that make a great PNR. In Impulse we learn more about the depth of each character and the pain that they all hide within themselves.
I found Justus's growth as a character the most rewarding. I'll admit. I couldn't stand Justus in Sterling, and I wasn't too fond of him in Twist. But in Impulse I think I finally get him.
"'I love you, Ghuardian, I love you.' When he started to back away, my hands gripped his shoulders. 'You're all the family I've got. You feed me, care for me, teach me, protect me, and put up with me. That's love--more than my own mother ever offered. You don't have to say it back.'My voice cracked. 'What can I do to take away your pain away?'
......he dropped his head against my shoulder and his body sagged. 'Don't speak of my charm. The jokes--they sting.'"

Ok. I know that is a long quote but it just wraps up perfectly how these characters have grown up and grown on my throughout this series.
All of our other favorite men are in this book and they all deal with their own personal issues and battles. Justus's just struck a chord with me.
Silver's relationship with her mother is finally brought to a head and it's heartbreaking. I've suffered through a strained relationship with my own mother in the past. I sobbed. Nothing hurts more than thinking that your own mother doesn't love you.
Dark can write human emotion even when her characters are not human. That is why I love her work and I think that is why so many others are in love with it too. Of course the steamy hot men don't hurt either. ;)

I really enjoyed this the second time around. It took me so long to finish it because I thought certain events happened in this book. Well they didn't so it appears it happens in the next book!

Logan is such a great guy though. I really hate how the Mageri and all the other Breeds don't really protect their people. It's super annoying. And women don't know how to fight because they "shouldn't" or don't need to is insane and stupid as the events in this book showcased. Overall, while Mageri isn't the most heartwarming series it does explain the whole Breed Universe better.

For those who don't know the series does have a reading order and ALL of Dannika Dark's books are set in the same universe. Which makes the universe bingeable as a whole.
First series to read is Mageri
Second is Seven Series
Third is Crossbreed

There are some novellas in between.
Crossbreed is about Raven but Christian who we met in this book and possibly the last is the main love interest. Some events that happen in book 5 have cross over events from one of ten books in the Seven series. What's great is how everything intermingles and I love the fact that I've now read Crossbreed and can appreciate Christian just a but more and understand him better now than before because I didn't really pay him much attention my first time reading this book.

This series just keeps getting better and better. The love story of Silver and Logan deepens and we find out more about Silver's Guardians back story. We come to understand why he is the way he is. In this book Silver now has three different enemies. There is almost constant action and major characters get injured. Traitors seem to be everywhere.Silver is given a new job with the Mage and ends up with a vampire (Christian) for a guard. Another character, a Relic named Page is also introduced. Possible love interest for Justus? Hope so. So we have all the characters that we love and some new ones. The love story is definitely the heart of this book although Silver coming in to her own as a Mage is also important. We also learn a lot more about the world of the Chita and Silvers possible place in it. Definitely hard to write this without spoilers so I will just say this book was definitely a great read and I am looking forward to the next one!

4.5–This series keeps getting better and better! All the angst. All the slow burn. I am in deep for these characters...I never thought I’d be a fan of Justus, but we get to know him and why he is the way he is. Simon, Christian. Goodness sakes, i love them all.

Oh I am in love with these audiobooks! I don’t want to say the same thing for each book but it’s true this is a great addition to the series.

We really get to see Silver have to overcome so many things, from self-worth, to love, being good enough, and even empathy.

Trust is a huge thing Sliver needs to learn. To trust for her is to open herself up but is so very hard for her with everything she has gone through. But I do believe Logan is helping her with this.

The bond between her Guardian Justus and herself is only getting stronger and I really like getting to see a little more about him, he has intrigued me.

We get to meet a Relic, and the vampire Christian really starts to play a bigger role in this book. And tragedy strikes in the name of an attack, one of their own is hurt badly. I won’t say who or from what but it’s a struggle they are going to have to go through for a long time.

I hope we get to see that book because I want to see this character get there happily ever after.

The more I listen, the more I love this series. The Seven series is one of my most favorite shifter series ever, but this one has more than just shifters. It is interesting and exciting these books have me sucked right in and I am on to the next I can’t help myself.

Right now all I can say is Wow! Absolutely Awesome :)

The long awaited third book of the Mageri Series was phenomenal. I hate to think I have to wait again for book four. Impulse was so different than Sterling and Twist. Dannika gave so much more attention to her other characters such as Adam, Novis, Logan and Justus. The Mageri series has evolved so much since the first book Sterling. It began with such a simple story of a girl who was involuntarily changed into a Mage. Each book since Dannika has added a little more mystery, a little more action and intense love triangles. Impulse was the blow up book because there was so much action, romance and tragedy. Dannika really pulls at your heart strings in Impulse. By now you bonded with the characters and just hope for their happy endings, but there are never happy endings. Impulse was incredibly hard to put down. I cannot wait to see what happens in book four.

Enjoy!

that ending was so damn sweet, and God I LOVE Justus. and so matter how obnoxious Christian may seem,I really like him; he's hilarious. Logan is adorable and kind and all sorts of yummy. I was just disappointed with where Adam is going. the book is awesome; the plot is packed and the characters are great.

This the first time I wrote a review after reading the whole series until it’s next book releases, so I’ll give a run down of the first book and some tidbits of the books after....(mental not to myself, review one book at a time, but it was so good I couldn’t help myself....lol)

Zoe is your regular 29 year old that lives a day to day life that has no excitement. She lives alone with her cat and has a best friend Sunny who is totally her opposite Sunny. Sunny. Sunny drags Zoe out of her bed for a night out to met Sunny s new official “boy friend”. Reluctantly Zoe heads out for a simple night that end in her down fall. On her way home, Zoe is attacked by a dangerous man and is left for dead. Zoe waits up in a ambulance and is scared shitless. She unbinds herself and heads for the hills. Confused and tired Zoe comes upon Adam Razor. Adam takes in Zoe into his home to cares for her. As she is in a deep sleep Zoe goes through a transformation that Adam has witnessed.

Zoe awakes to see that she is no longer the women she once was. Zoe is unable to make any sense of this transformation. She is no longer able to go back to her old life for she has been buried by her loved ones.

As Adam and Zoe live together, Zoe comes to realizes that she has not only changed her appearance but she also feels different. Zoe feels an unexplainable energy that submerges on its own through out her body. Adam and Zoe try to gain any information that lead up to her attack and works to gain understanding of the after. Adam and Zoe become best friends and creates a bond that will be tested through out their story.

When Adam is called to work in Congito, Zoe slips out under Adams protective eye and heads out to sightsee. While Zoe is taking a break in a local bar, she meets Justus De Gradi, a man who seems to have every female begging to be the one to leave with him. Justus is a babe magnet and cant seem to turn it off. Zoe realizes she is the only one not drooling over him. Justus engages Zoe and reviles to her that she is a Mage. A being that houses and froster energy and light. This brings Zoe closer to knowing who she is and what will become of her. Justus offers Zoe the one opportunity to come with him as his student- “Leaner” to help protect and teach her the way of their kind, for Justus is also a Mage. Zoe shared this information with Adam. During a heated evening ,Adam realizes and painfully agrees that Zoe should be placed in Justus care. This is the only way she’ll gain any part of a normal life. So he and she thinks.

Justus decides that he will help Zoe through her transition as her Ghuardian. Justus must present Zoe to the Mergeri,(Higher order of law among Mage. It's a body of government that oversees the Councils which run individual territories) When present to the “Mageri” they allow Zoe to remain with Justus until her Creator comes to claim her, for her creator holds her faith and future unto him, until then Justus will be Zoe’s Guardian and will revisit the Mageri in six months time to see how well Zoe has progressed as a learner and what special power she will have specific to her. Zoe fears for that day never to come for the man that killed her that fatal night is her Creator.

Zoe realizes quickly when entering the world of the Mages that she has much to learn and understand. Zoe and Justus learn to live together while Justus works on protecting and teaching Zoe to defend her self form others that might want to destroy her. “Juicers” are those Mage that are renegades and go against the laws that the Breeds have been accustom of following. They steal light from other Mage for it give them a rush of sharing or taking the other light from young, weak or unprotect Mage. For Zoe is a “learner” and learners are like children unable to protect themselves until they have developed their powers and then released from their “Ghuardian” protect and teach.

Zoe is not allowed to step out side of her protect home and feels bored and striped of her independents, but soon Justus has a visiter that lightens up the Justus house hold and sets Zoe on flames. Simon.

Simon is Justus most trusted friend and the lighter side of him. Zoe through Simon learns the more sensual and empowering ways of the Mage. They share a moment that sets Zoe in fire but is quickly extinguished, but their relationship remains that of flirting and he as her protector as well.

Soon enough, the fun with Simon and the teaching of Justus is at a stand still when Samil, Zoe’s Creator comes to collect her. Zoe is in fear and Justus has no claim to her at this point. Samil has claimed not to know of Zoe where abouts and wants his right too Zoe. The Mergeri conclude that Zoe will be returned to her Creator and is officially presented the the Mergeri. Zoe will no longer be called by her earth name but by “Silver” the name of Samil choosing. The Margeri hands over Zoe to Samil. Samil is not what he seems in front of the Margeri and become deadly when Zoe is taking back to his home. Samil has a secret of his own.

While under Samil ‘s so called care a unknown Maga comes and visits Silver and steals her light to a point of near death. Silver is treated like an animal is once again she is brutally attack for several days and almost raped. Cant this girl get a break!

During this time she is befriend by a Shifter, named Finn, who was sold to Samil by his father. Finn Shares information with Silver about those who are also imprisoned. Sliver quickly learns that Samil is breeding Mage for reasons unknown to her.
She learns in that dark place that she has gained a new power. But she is to weak to use it, for her light is being drained daily. She is able to make connect with her true Ghuardian though the “Gray Veil” and place in the in-between where only those who have shared Justus light can visit. Simon is brought into the Gray Veil and they plan for her escape. When they are successful and Samil is contain. Justus helps Silver back to recovery. Justus and Simon has a plan that involves a challenge to keep Silver with them and not in the hands of her abuser. The “challenge” that will have the loser lose their light and work to regain their strength over time. The Victory will gain the loser light for that time, increasing their power.

A challenger must fight for Silver to gain Silvers freedom from Samil, but who, no one has step forward. Justus and Simon call upon Adam, Silvers only true friend to stand up to that challenge.

Their life's are for ever changed.

Silver is now released from the clutches of Samil and is now in the caring hands of Justus her Ghuardian, Simon and Adam her trusted friends. Silver is still not safe for she is still learning what she truly is and is become a “unique” a Mage with special gifts and skill she must keep to herself.

Through out the books you learn more of Simon and why he is so important for his skills and cunning planning. You see him in calm and in his most dangerous.

You met Logan, a Chitah who is hired to capture Sliver and is now her most desired male in her life. You see her face her fears about trusting her heart to a male and not just any male for this male is her worst enemy and can kill her at any given moment but is also the one person that can capture her heart. Logan is bonded to the raw connection that he can not run from for its not in his build. (read these books and you’ll see what I mean)

Justus, the most loving father yet never shares emotion or words to her student but will lay down his life her. You learn why he is so cold and disconnect and how that sorrow binds Silver and him together as family

Simon, her friend and confidant, he is forever indulging and is amused with her presents but truly wishes for her to be free and live in the glory of who Silver is. He too, hold ghost in his closet that he is not yet ready to reveal.

Sunny, her only female friend Silver has to trust, while Silver lives in a world of males who want to kill her, love her or steal her.

Christian, who is sworn to protect her but somehow doesn't know how to feels about her. Could it be the protection of a brother he offers or something more?

Sunny’s “boy friend” Marco is back from the past along with his own personal reasons who also has a history with Justus, oh boy, just you wait!

Novis, a member of the Mageri, who is intrigued by Silver and has high hopes for what she is and what she’ll become.

Nero, the master of crazy, a non stoping Mage out to concur the world one Mage at a time. Willing to cut throats and bring Breeds and Humans to ash who dare step in his path to start a war like no being has ever seen.

Adam who loves Silver enough to let her go, who shares in her humanity and is over-ally protective of Silver. He was lost then, found and then is lost again in his endless search for peace. Adam, chasing his past and finding that there is more to his life then that he lead and how its all coming full circle. What discussion will be made of him?

Finn, looking to gain a life that was taking from him, that he no longer knows how to live in the mortal world. Who is now learning to be free and live free, where will his journey take him?

Silver once a timid insure woman who has transformed in a woman she always wanted to be yet still immature in her new life. Its as if she’s a young teenager learning life lessons, but these life lessons are in a world that will destroy her humanity and make her challenge the ways of the old and try to make changes that she at times doesn't understand the reasons they are so.

And there are some many more characters that I’v grown to love and hate. You would think that you would get lost in each one’s story but you don’t. Each book gives you the right amount of information to keep your reading and wanting to know more and uncover every one secrets.

I really enjoyed these books. They are written in a way that captures our attention and is not overdrawn in sex. Its really good story that makes you think of a second chance in life, finding love worth fight, the belief in one thing that would make you fight for and fire to make you stand up for your self and not just be. That is what Silver is tying to achieve.

Cant wait for book four that releases May 17th!. Thanks goodness the wait isn't to long!

My review and an extended sample of the audiobook are posted at Hotlistens.com.

This book felt a little bit like a filler book to the series to me. It didn't have a strong plot line like the first two books. It almost felt like a PNR book, as it focused a lot of the relationship between Silver and Logan. That is not to say there isn't conflict, because there is. It just seemed more of the secondary plot.

In this book, we meet a new character in Christian. He is a vampire and becomes a guard for Silver when she takes on new responsibilities for the Mageri. She needs the freedom to travel around without her Guardian all the time. Christian is really funny and a great addition to cast of this book.

Silver learns a lot about her human life when she and Christian go back to Texas to question her mother. There is a reason she is so different from the other Mage. She also learns why she has trust issues. Her mother wasn't much of a loving mother. She always blamed her past boyfriends, but her mother was never there for her. For example, when she was sick as a child, her mother would give her meds and fluids and leave her alone. If she there was a mess from the sickness, Zoe had to clean it up, even as a child.

Silver has some difficult times in this book, both emotionally and physically. Logan really steps up and shows how much he cares and what he is willing to do to be there for Silver. Max, the disappearing, reappearing cat, comes back into the series. He seems like an afterthought in this series. I would've thought Silver would have wanted his companionship more during some of the tough times, but that never happened. I just don't know what the point of him is.

While this book did feel like a filler book, I love watching the relationship between Logan and Silver grow. I also really like the addition of Christian. There is a lot we learn about Silver's past. We also have a glimpse into Justus. Can't wait to see where the series goes next.

Narration
Once again, I think Nicole Poole is good choice for this series. I think she does a great job with Simon's British accent and now we add in Christian with an Irish accent.

I like to thank Tantor Audio for providing me with a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

There are some authors that change your life through the pages of their books. For me, Dannika Dark is THE ONE. It started with Sterling, grew with Twist, and has utterly swept me away with Impulse. I suffered 24 hrs of post Impulse after-glow!

I had to take time after finishing Impulse before writing this so that my whole review wasn't "OHMYGAWD!!!!!!"... but OHMYGAWD lol this book was in a word; hot! No... hott, its hottness can't be contained in one T.

From the get-go we are engulfed in our favorite characters. The romance takes a bit of a front seat in Impulse, but I think we were all ready for that. Do not fear Dannika hasn't switched genres on us, there is still plenty of conflict and action. We get backgrounds on some of our "old favorites" and get an eye full of some "new favorites". I don't feel like much got resolved in Impulse, but rather than that disappointing me, it got me more excited for the next books. And they promise to be a real doozy!!! I feel this book was about growth, not just for Silver but the Mageri crew as a whole. So keep tissue handy and prepare to blush :)

I respect the series enough not to give spoilers, or even a plot recap (Dannika did a beautiful job of that herself in the blurb). I can tell you with certainty that Impulse will NOT, could NOT disappoint you! I would give it a million stars if that were an option.

Impulse by Dannika Dark has taken this series to new levels. Dannika Dark has taken her love of her craft and made it her own, leaving lasting impressions! I was delighted by how Dark transported us in this series. Silver and Logan are HAWT, driving this series to new heights and making fans fall in love with all things Logan. Impulse gives readers answers to lingering questions from as far back as book one, Sterling. The true delight in this series is that Dark has created a world new and unique, readers don't know the rules and will have to just absorb more books in order to feed their new need for more of this author's work. Dark is an author to watch, she is going places. Impulse is a must read!

Love, love, love Dannika's books! The sense of humor and wit are too much! lol!

Silver can be so strong at times, yet so scared.

I love Logan! Even his crazy cat tongue that I found disturbing in the previous book.

Simon is a frickin' trip!

And poor Adam. :( I really like Adam and hated to see him so broken in this book. I was really hoping Silver could break him out of his shell.

There were a few characters that only made small appearance this time and that was kinda bummer. And the ending wasn't as explosive as the previous too books, but I was glad to see that Silver cracked open one hard nut. Finally!

Can't wait to see what's in store next!
