Breaking All The Rules

Rate this book
Sometimes you gotta toss your whole life into a burning dumpster to find what’s most important...

Beatrice Archer has always done everything she’s supposed to —worked her ass off, ignored her non-existent personal life, and kept her mouth shut. Now she’s over it. The rat race, respectability…the underwire bras. She’s taking her life back. Starting with moving to Nowhere, Colorado to live life on her own terms.

Now Bea gives exactly zero forks. Beer for breakfast. Sugar for everything else. Baggy sweats and soft cotton undies FTW. Then a much younger and delightfully attractive cop is called to deal with her flagrant disregard for appropriate clothing outside the local diner (some folks just don’t appreciate bunny slippers) and Bea realizes there’s something missing from her little decathlon of decadence…and he might be the guy to help her out.

When it comes to breaking rules, Officer Austin Cooper is surprisingly eager to assist. He’s charming, a little bit cowboy, and a whole lot sexy. But Bea’s about to discover that breaking the rules has consequences. And all of the cherry pies in Colorado can’t save her from what’s coming…

Featuring ~ dual 3rd person POV, cop, small town, reverse age gap (h~35 & H~25), steamage

Bea & Austin were both great characters.
Bea was fun, didn't care about her appearance and she could dog a pie like no other.
Austin was a super sweet, hottie boom bottie cowboy~ish cop.

Bea was really hung up on the age gap, but I found Austin to be very mature for his tender age of 25. The inevitable 3rd act breakup was for the birds and I hated what was said.
FYI ~ the door is wide open for the steamage.

Overall, pretty delightful and I'd be very interested in reading more from this author.

Narrated by Mia Barron for 10 hours and 10 minutes. She did a pretty good job, but we all know by now I prefer a male narrator when I'm getting a dual POV ~ even when it's 3rd person.

Redheads Unite!!!

Amy Andrews' writing is energetic, savvy and downright sassy in Breaking All the Rules! The younger man/older woman trope grabbed my interest!

Most of these age-disparate relationships do not tend to end well because.... hmmm, lets see: Youngsters tend to have short attention spans.... and Olders tend to worry too much about wrinkles, waistlines and they also usually have issues with trying to carve out some non-existent time around a busy career or pre-existing family obligations. This highly entertaining, often hilarious story had all of the above angst, plus a few more surprises packed into it.

Beatrice Archer did not want to become her mother.

Beatrice's emotionally volatile, Wild Child, artistic mother died tragically young. Ironically, her mother was running off with a younger lover when tragedy struck. Her father and grandmother worked hard to ensure that Beatrice would channel her own artistic abilities into safer outlets. A stable career in marketing, a corner office and an executive title were all approved choices for Beatrice, and she was willing to follow the road map set out for her by her well-meaning family...

But that darned Glass Ceiling (and her misogynistic jerk of a boss) kept blocking Beatrice from fulfilling her family's life ambitions for her....

Or was it Fate, in the guise of a sexy small town Colorado cop who complies with Bea's drunken demands to be thrown into a jail cell for breaking all the rules of time by wearing Thursday's panties on the wrong day.... because he just can't say no to this sexy redhead?

I am definitely ordering the other books in the Credence series. Post-Covid - and due to the demands of my day job - I had been on a long hiatus from reading romance novels, but the synopsis for this story lured me right back in! The excellent and sophisticated writing style (not to mention those EXTREMELY STEAMY SCENES!) kept me glued to the pages of this highly entertaining story right to the very end! I'm rating this one four and a half stars, rounded up to a 5 for the engaging storytelling and colourful characters.

My thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

Amy Andrews knows how to blend, fun, wit, sexy and sizzle into her stories in the best possible way, this is my fourth visit to Credence and I loved it, getting to know Bea Archer and Austin Cooper was so much fun, of course there are plenty of emotions as well, as Bea runs from LA and her stressful corporate life in advertising for the quiet life in Credence, to get her life back.

Bea rents an apartment in town and stays put it is time to do as she wants and if that means having beer for breakfast and binge watching Supernatural and cheering for Team Dean and not giving two hoots what other people think about how she dresses then this is living, it is time for Bea to start breaking all the rules that have been pushed on her for a long time.

After two weeks holed up in the apartment Bea is craving sugar and leaves her sanctuary to find sugar dressed in her track pants and bunny slippers she is content after purchasing pie and ice-cream. But it seems that someone is not happy with her appearance and calls the cops and young deputy Austin Cooper arrives to sort her out and Bea lets loose and finds herself in the pokey, for a short time going through all of the rules that she is breaking.

It is not long before Austin is helping Bea break more rules and lots of fun is being had and lots of pie is being eaten and then lots of sizzle time in bed, Bea and Austin are burning up the sheets and having the best time, but Bea is not going to fall for someone who is ten years her junior, doing things that she has wanted to for a long time though come with some consequences that will see Bea have to make a big decision, can she find herself?

I loved this story so much and cannot recommend it enough to any romance reader who loves fun and sensual sizzle, the dialogue and banter between Bea and Austin is just so good, I laughed out loud so many times and smiled throughout and I also cheered them on, I loved Austin what a hero and Bea is fun and loving. Of course catching up with characters in Credence was great as well and I do hope we have more stories in Credence, Thanks Amy Andrews for another awesome read.

My thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my copy to read and review.

Oh my gosh, I loved this book! Bea was amazing and I just couldn’t get enough of her rule-breaking, unfiltered ways. Austin was perfection. He seemed to know just what to say and do at every moment. Together, these two were simply wonderful. This was one of those books that was almost impossible to put down once I started reading because I just had to know what Bea and Austin might do next.

Bea has basically run away to Credence, Colorado. She left her all-consuming job in advertising after being passed over for a promotion once again. She has barely left the small apartment she rented until a quest for sugar brings her out. And she runs right into Austin, a local police officer. These two were great together from the start. Bea is older than Austin so she resists getting involved but it really just is meant to be and the chemistry between them is off the charts.

I found this to be a fantastic book with a wonderful sense of humor. I found myself laughing more than once and I may have swooned a time or two as well. This book had everything that I hoped it would and a whole lot more. I will definitely be recommending this one to others. I cannot wait to read more from Amy Andrews.

Sometimes you gotta toss your whole life into a burning dumpster to find what’s most important...

REVIEW: First read from this author and she captured my heart. I loved this fun and flirty read that was so entertaining I literally read over a relaxing weekend. It’s the story of Beatrice Archer who hits burnout and decides to give up her corporate job for small town life. What she never expected was falling head over heels for a younger man, the town’s local police. Charming and sexy, I was all over this book!

(Jan 2023) I read and reviewed Breaking All The Rules over a month ago. And in an unusual move from me after listening to the audio book I’m increasing my original review by a star. This book had me laughing with delight as Bea discovers her own self worth and boldly asks for what she wants. Mia Barron does great with the narration of the story. Thank you to NetGalley, RB Media and Amy Andrews for the audiobook in exchange for an honest review. My original book review is below.

*******

(Dec 2022) The cute cover welcomes you to a very entertaining, steamy, small town romance. Beatrice Archer is 35 and tired of being passed over for the promotion she is promised for years. She throws darts and moves to the small town of Credence, Colorado. And Bea wants to become badass. Her list isn’t shocking and includes things like drinking beer for breakfast, ride a horse, skinny dip or go camping. She may even wear her panties on the wrong days.

Police officer Austin Cooper first meets Bea when she is dressed is sweats and bunny slippers eating pie. He is instantly smitten. He is younger, 25 to her 35 and is all in to help her safely work on her being bad list. The sexual tension is sizzling and there is a lot of passion and fun scenes. The townspeople and Austins family add a lot to the fun of the story. Everyone absolutely knows everyone’s business and is proud of it. And Austin’s dad loves a good pun.

I laughed many times reading this book and the angst moment is very brief. I only wished for a little more in conversation between Bea and Austin especially in how they see their future. The epilogue is nice but the focus is more on Bea and not them as a couple. If you want a romance novel that is fun and with a lot of heat this is just the book. I didn’t realize this is part of a series and read easily as a stand alone. But I will look for the previous books and future one from the author and hope they are just as enjoyable.

Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Have you ever just wanted to say “F*%k the Bullsh*t” and stay home, drink wine, binge your comfort Netflix shows, and eat loads of carbs?! If so, then you will 100% love Beatrice Archer! Bea leaves Los Angeles and an advertising executive job behind after losing a promotion to a less qualified man. She throws a dart on a map and lands in small-town Credence, Colorado where she attempts to throw her plans out the window while breaking all the rules that have been constraining her from living her best life. A local young police officer, Austin Cooper, is immediately drawn to Bea (even while wearing bunny slippers) and eager to assist Bea on her rule-breaking journey where fun adventures and steamy sparks fly.

What started as a laugh out loud romantic comedy developed into a deeper romantic journey for Bea and Austin as they try to wage through obstacles threatening their HEA.

Author Amy Andrews is so good at balancing humor with steam and I thoroughly enjoyed every second of this book!

I absolutely loved Bea's character at the start of this book, and was 100% loving where this story was taking me...then the author decided to change almost everything about the book.
The setting, Bea's personality & job, even the romance, as you may imagine this changed my feels towards the book.
I would still suggest it if for no other reason than I want your thoughts.
I just would have preferred the small town setting romance without all the flashy changes.
Small town setting with pie? That was pretty idyllic.
I will say, Mia Barron is a fabulous narrator and I look forward to finding more projects she was in on.
As always, thanks to NetGalley & RB Media for my DRC.

Reviewed for Wit and Sin

Ad exec Beatrice Archer has had enough with the LA rat race and her misogynistic boss. She’s quit her job and – after throwing a dart at a map – moved to Credence, Colorado where she drinks beer for breakfast, has pie for dinner, and her life is all Dean Winchester and sweatpants 24/7. She’s followed the rules all her life and where has it gotten her? Now she’s determined to break all the rules and her unexpected ally is sexy cop Austin Cooper. Austin is charmed – and deliciously dangerous to Bea’s state of mind – but throwing caution to the wind she falls into his arms. But what happens when reality intrudes on the new life Bea has built?

Breaking All the Rules is zany, fun, and an all-around good time. Bea has thrown her orderly life into chaos and is embracing the messy at the beginning of this book. She’s a hoot but there’s deeper soul-searching to be done over the course of the story. Bea has lived her life coloring within the lines and it was fun to see her break out of it. She needed to find what she wanted out of life and though it wasn’t a smooth path to finding that, it was an entertaining journey. Falling for a cop ten years younger than her wasn’t even on her radar, but who could resist Austin? He’s kind, charming, and totally dazzled by Bea even when she’s got unwashed hair and is eating ice cream in her bunny slippers. The age difference between them isn’t as big an obstacle as Bea seems to think and these two soon-to-be-lovers are a great fit from the start. Their banter was fun and their romance so easy to be charmed by.

Breaking All the Rules isn’t the first book set in Amy Andrews’s Credence, Colorado but you can easily jump in here without missing anything. The town is one I’d love to live in, filled with welcoming residents and pie so delicious I was ready to salivate along with Bea. All in all, I enjoyed Bea’s journey; I was rooting for her to claim the direction her life would take, I thought her romance with Austin was sweet with a good dash of spice, the town of Credence was wonderful, and the cherry on top was one very regal scene-stealer, a snaggletooth cat named Princess.

Cute, amusing, and highly entertaining!

Breaking All the Rules is a lighthearted, feel-good tale that takes you into the life of Beatrice Archer, a young executive who, after recently being jilted for a promotion, endeavours to leave the rat race, fancy clothes, high heels, and restricting bras behind by moving to the idyllic small town of Nowhere, Colorado where she hopes to live a simpler, easy going existence which by no means includes falling head over heals for the younger, ruggedly handsome, local Officer Austin Cooper who is entirely too charming for his own good.

The prose is fun and flirty. The characters are friendly, sweet, and lovable. And the plot is an engaging, push-pull tale of family, friendship, tricky situations, playful banter, embarrassing moments, humorous hijinks, self-discovery, finding balance, happiness, romance, and love.

Overall, Breaking All the Rules is another witty, clever, enjoyable tale by Andrews that I thoroughly enjoyed and which, in my opinion, is the perfect choice for anyone who loves a good rom-com that has a whole lot of humour, heart, and heat.

Breaking all the Rules has everything that it needs to be a fun rom-com -- it has a woman in crisis, a sexy cop/cowboy, lots, sexy thoughts plus a lot of laughs.

Beatrice is a thirty-five year old woman who has spent her life following all the rules to be successful while she tries to please her father and her grandmother, both of whom had rigid rules about life and plans for Beatrice. But now she's had enough. After walking out on her job as an advertising executive after once again being passed over on a promised promotion that was given to a less capable man, she has moved to a small town - a very small town - in Colorado. She rented a room, pulled the shades. put on her baggy sweats and done nothing for two weeks but drink and eat -- and made sure that what she was eating was full of sugar and bad for her. After two weeks of solitude, she ventures from her room to find something with sugar - lots of sugar.
When she finds Annie's Cafe, she's ecstatic to find out that it has homemade pies plus ice cream. While she is eating two ice cream cones in front of the diner, a nosy citizen calls the police. After all, everyone in this small town knows everyone else and Bea is stranger plus she's dressed in a stained shirt, sweat pants and bunny slippers. Responding to the call is sexy Austin Cooper - he's a 25 year old cop who also works on his parents ranch and even though he's 10 years younger than Bea, there is an immediate spark between them. Their first scene together is humorous as she keeps yelling that she's a rule breaker and should be put in the pokey. He finds her funny and takes her to jail. After that initial encounter - the sparks fly fast and furious between them. Bea is totally conflicted about her feeling for Austin - she's 10 years older than he is plus she isn't sure what she's going to do with the rest of her life. Will she remain off the grid or will she return to LA? And is it fair to lead him on? As their relationship grows, so does her uncertainty about it. Will she be able to put her negative thoughts out of her mind and learn to enjoy life and find love with Austin?

This was a great rom-com. There were a lot of humorous situation along with the sexy relationship between the two main characters. This book is full of humor and heat and lots of sexy flirting.

i didn't realize until after I finished the book that the author has several other books set in the same town After reading Breaking all the Rules, I'm ready to head back to Colorado and read more books about sexy cowboys!

I enjoyed this dual POV, reverse age-gap, opposites attract romance SOO much! Laugh out loud funny, steamy with great emotional depth and character development. I love a woman in her mid-thirties starting over and finding a career that brings her job instead of dread! Throw in a hot, much younger Deputy policeman/cowboy with a soft spot for high-strung cats and this book could do no wrong!

Beatrice quits her corporate graphic design job in LA when she's passed over for a much less qualified man, taking off to small town Colorado where no one knows her. The only problem? She really can't seem to resist Austin with his hot body and huge heart. What starts off as a fling quickly turns into something more but can these opposites make it work??

Great on audio narrated by Mia Barron and perfect for fans of Nothing but the truth by Holly James. Much thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early audio copy in exchange for my honest review! I can't wait to read more from Amy Andrews (a new to me author!)

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I loved everything about this book.
The banter and chemistry between Austin and Beatrice was so good, as were the side characters. I didn’t even mind the usual third act break-up because of what was behind it.
Breaking All The Rules was my first foray into the town of Credence but I can’t wait to go back and read the previous books in the series.

I was sent an ARC of this book from Entangled Publishing to enjoy. All thoughts are my own.

I LOVED THIS BOOK. Like seriously loved it. I laughed aloud so many times I lost track. Tired of being the agreeable, dependable ad executive, Bea tosses a dart at a map, upends her life and moves to Credence, Colorado for a fresh start - which includes holing up in an apartment above the local coffee shop and binging Supernatural (all 15 seasons). She's determined to not be a good girl - she's a rule breaker now.

When she ventures out for sugar, a local cop is called to the scene for Bea's unkempt appearance. Ten years her junior, cop Austin Cooper is fascinated by Bea. They start spending time together, as Austin offers to help Bea with breaking all the rules she wants - especially the one about having a relationship with someone inappropriate - so a younger man counts right? But when her old life comes back with an offer she can't refuse, will Bea choose Credence or L.A.?

Austin is so loving with Bea, giving her space when she needs it, opinions when she asks and all the orgasms she wants. Super steamy! Bea really learns to be herself, and she has no issues being herself with Austin. They are definitely MFEO.

I need a minute to collect my thoughts. I blazed through this book, staying up until 2 am last night, fighting the urge to ignore meetings today and finishing Bea and Austin’s story instead of watching 90 Day Fiancé tonight. It’s THAT good.

As an “older than the usual heroine” aged woman, I wasn’t sure I could get into the reverse age gap but Lord have mercy…Officer Austin Cooper is the book boyfriend who changed my mind. And he did it so fast.

Beatrice is #goals, ladies. By the bottom of page one, I knew I wanted to be her ride or die bestie. The way she jumps into trying new things is inspiring. Lucky for us, falling for the younger man is one of those things she let herself do.

These two are just…hell, they are funny and cute and sexy as all get out. Austin’s wink and “ma’am” are burned in my brain. Heaven help the next cop who pulls me over. I’ll be thinking about Officer Cooper and make a fool out of myself.

For a book with this much spice and truly enjoyable fun, I have to admit it held my heart over a cliff in not so enjoyable ways before these two finally realized what I’d known since chapter two. It was a hell of a ride and I can easily see this one being one I’ll re-read to experience the chemistry and romance all over again.

Thank you so so much to the author and the publisher, Entangled Publishing Amara, for sharing an e-ARC of this book with me on NetGalley!!

“Come on, Beatrice. Ask yourself, WWDD?”

“Life’s too short not to eat pie. Eat the damn thing. If you want … Ill keep an eye on your ass for you”

Wow wow wow !!! I absolutely loved this book !!! I’m not going to say it was the perfect romance … but it was really close !!!
I’m not a huge fan or reverse age gap … but this small town romance almost made me change my mind !!! Bea and Austin’s relationship was absolutely amazing. Soft, romantic, spicy, hot and based on understanding and mutual respect … plus the teasing was absolutely amazing to read !!!
They had a good banter but it felt like a more friends-to-lovers kinda romance than anything else.
I loved how it all started and how they both grew to be together in a dynamic that worked both for her spirit and his.
Honestly the age gap between them felt like a bit of an obstacle , which of course was part of the plot, but the author managed to make it look almost insignificant considering the maturity attribution to Austin. Plus this man probably made me feel like a huge fan of small town’s officers !!!
I also have to say that I am very excited about a possible development in the story of two side characters (Winona and Arlo) that I believe will have me entertained a lot !!!
I’m so glad I had the chance to read this book and I truly hope this is just the beginning of a series !!

***4.5/5 Stars***

Breaking All the Rules was a charming, romantic small town romance that was so much fun! With an age gap, steamy scenes, heartfelt characters and all the pie, this book was so easy to devour! Breaking All the Rules was so adorable that I went and added the first book in the Credence, Colorado Series to my tbr because I could not get enough of this world! Amy Andrews is an author I definitely need to read more of!
“If you want to know the number of each law you intend to break, then it’s Officer Cooper. If you just want to shoot the breeze about it, then it’s Austin.”
“Can I take a little bit of A and the rest B?”
“Beatrice,” he said, his loaded fork poised between the plate and his mouth, “you can take whatever you like.”

Beatrice's whole world got flipped upside down when the promotion she worked so hard for, was handed to someone else. With the need to get out of LA, she landed up in the small town of Credence, Colorado. Where she binge watched TV, drank what she wanted, and kept track of what day it was by name of the week underwear. When Beatrice was finally ready to venture out into the small town, she ran into Austin. The town's local sheriff. Who was 10 years younger than her 35 years of age. And from those first few moments together, there were lots of sparks. They were flirting even as he put her in a jail cell lol. And that banter and sparks continued as Austin encouraged Beatrice to continue to break all the rules.
Bea smiled. “You ready for this?”
“Honey,” he said, his gaze locking on hers, “I’ve been ready since the day I saw you eating ice cream outside Annie’s.”
And damn if her heart didn’t do a funny little triple tap in her chest. No twenty-five-year-old should have such a way with words.

Austin was my favorite! Not only were his parents absolutely hilarious, their fondue jokes killed me! But Austin was the ultimate book boyfriend! You'll want to steal from the pages, just like me! Austin was intoxicating, swoon worthy and so easy to be obsessed with. I loved all of his confidence, how sure he was of himself and the way he handled situations. And his words. He made me melt and sigh out loud I don't even know how many times! Ohhh and his thoughts....I don't even have adequate enough words other then they made me love him even more! You have to meet Austin! I loved every single thing about him!
“I was wondering if you had that V thing going on between your hips, you know…” She dropped her gaze to the area of his anatomy under discussion. “With the muscles there.”
Austin didn’t say a word as the smile hovering on his mouth faded. He didn’t do anything for a beat or two, either, just drew in a couple of deep, ragged breaths.
Then reached for his belt buckle.

Austin brought out the best in Beatrice. I loved how she was so bold around him. Yet Beatrice was hurt from her past. And she could be skittish around him too. So while it took me a little while to click with Beatrice and her story, the moment I did I could not stop smiling and randomly laughing! I loved how the more time she spent around Austin and his small town, the more she seemed to grow. It was smile inducing watching Beatrice find her way. Especially with her passion for a different line of work. So I was so excited and rooting her on! Yet Beatrice definitely had her hang ups. She did not want to run into Austin's mom lol. And she didn't think anything could come of being with someone 10 years younger. So even though they spent the majority of Austin's non-working time together, they were just a fling. They couldn't become more than that. Right?
Bea made sure to put a little extra swing in her step.
“Tease,” he called after her.
“Pervert,” she replied, so freaking happy, she practically skipped.

Anytime that Beatrice and Austin were in the room together, the sexual tension between them was scorching hot! And when they went further... I loved how they used pie *fans face*. This book was the perfect mix of emotions and passion mixed together in the pages! Especially with Beatrice having all of these different things she wanted to do, like camp beneath the stars. As she checked things off of her list, it was amazing to watch how happy she was becoming. How much Austin made her smile and laugh. And how Austin was feeling and looking at Beatrice. So while I had already fallen head over heels in love with Austin, I wanted to push Beatrice into that feeling too. Yet Beatrice still had more healing to do.
Their mouths fused, her arms wound around his neck, her legs wound around his waist as she kissed him deep and hard, and he almost lost his mind. It felt good. It felt perfect. Like everything he’d ever wanted was right here in his arms.
So why did it also feel like goodbye?

Breaking All the Rules was a fun and flirty small town romance! With bunny slippers, a cat, lots of pie, a cowboy and so much heart, this book had the right amount of hope and laughter. And I loved how issues were resolved, my heart was so happy by the time we reached that final page. So if you're a fan of adult romance that is spicy and heartfelt, definitely make for sure you have this one on your tbr! I'm looking forward to whatever Amy Andrews releases next!

From the main characters’ meet cute to Beatrice’s work at Greet Cute, Amy Andrews’ Breaking All the Rules is super cute! The characters are engaging and the plot is fun.

Beatrice Archer, former Ad Exec, meets Deputy Austin Cooper when she is having a very bad day, and from that day forward, Beatrice’s life in Credence takes on a different look. The author’s wit and sense of fun take center stage in her characters. I loved Beatrice’s sassiness and her transformation. Austin, for a young man in his twenties is surprisingly wise and calm. It must be his grounded upbringing! In fact, his parents (secondary characters) are fantastically fun and steal every scene they’re in!

Besides a fun, sultry break from reality, Breaking All the Rules also has some solid messages about glass ceilings, the definition of success, running from your past, and life balance. Even though the relationship conflict can be spotted from the first chapter, the journey to it and through it is so worth it!

Breaking All the Rules is a lighthearted tale that takes you into the life of Beatrice Archer who has had only one goal in life, To get the coveted corner office in her advertising business. But she has never been appreciated even after her inhuman efforts and genius mind. She decides to leave the rat race, fancy clothes, high heels, and restricting bras behind by moving to the idyllic small town of Nowhere, Colorado where she hopes to live a simpler, easy going existence which by no means includes falling head over heals for the younger, ruggedly handsome, local Officer Austin Cooper who is entirely too charming for his own good.

I actually think that Bea might be my spirit animal, holy heck did I absolutely adore her so quickly (even if she sometimes got on my nerves). The banter is witty, the humour is great and the characters were really well developed. This one took me a bit longer to read than usual, but only because I kept putting it down to start something else (impatience and impulsivity for the win), but every tine I picked the book back up again I flew through it and found myself not really wanting it to end.

It’s an easy romcom for anyone wanting who likes age gaps and laughs (and Supernatural). I clearly need to go and read Amy’s back catalogue now because I absolutely adored this one.

Breaking All the Rules by Amy Andrews made me feel like I am in a spicy Hallmark movie! Big town heroine moving to a small town after a major life crisis and finds true love in the much younger town cop living in his family ranch..it is exactly the kind of adorable and entertaining you think it would be!

Bea had only one goal in life. To get the coveted corner office in her family advertising business. But she has never been appreciated even after her inhuman efforts and genius mind. So comes Credence. She is Breaking all the rules now. Gone is the put together well mannered Bea. She is going to live life in fullest and Austin Cooper, the young town cop with his sexy charm volunteered to be her partner in crime. Will she fall for him? And what will happen when she gets a second chance to fulfill her old dream?

Credence is a kicka## small town. It is lively and full of sweet colourful kind people. Bea was full on rebel mode. Like never cleaning her rented apartment, drinking alcohol in breakfast, no dress code, eating pie whole day, doing reckless things...and slowly she got back her confidence. She is sassy and witty but the city just stripped her off everything. Our cute cop played an important role too. He encouraged Bea to find out what she really wants in life. He cheered her to do things those make her happy, not what make others happy. Bea was having an existential crisis and Credence helped her out of the dark hole. It was a fierce slow burn as they were trying to hold back their crazy chemistry. I loved when the author threw all kinds of obstacles on their way. It was full on entertaining. I laughed a lot and swooned a lot too. It was just the right amount of steamy with lots of feel. And Bea made the right choice in the end.

Breaking All The Rules is a small-town romance with an age-gap as well. Beatrice has rented an apartment in the town of Credence to get away from her life in LA and away from her life of rules. She wants to break all rules she used to live by and what better way to start than show up to buy pie at the local diner in your pyjamas. That's how 25-year-old officer Austin Cooper finds her double-fisting ice cream cones on the sidewalk and insisting upon being arrested for her "crimes". Their story starts this day with her wanting to break all the rules and him happy to help her break said rules. If only he can the 35-year-old woman to open her heart for him.

This book is very lighthearted, has a ton of funny moments and at its core is about women breaking free from rules and norms that tie them down to a life they aren't happy with.

The plot is cute and the characters are silly yet sweet. However there is something missing from the romance that could take away the awkwardness I felt reading it. It wasn't the lack of chemistry but the development was underwhelming. If someone saw me looking a mess, not having showered, had beer for breakfast, shoving down ice creams and pies ... their first thought wouldn't be how "attractive" that was. I guess it would have felt more genuine as a slow burn start than an instant attraction. That's just not my cup of tea.

That being said I loved Amy Andrews writing. It fit the story perfectly and I will for sure read more from her in the future.

Wow, Breaking All The Rules by Amy Andrews was such an enjoyable age gap (older woman/younger man) romance and one that I simply did not want to put down once I started. Sassy, funny, and a whole lot of sexy, I loved this book.

Bea is a 35 year old woman who had enough of being pushed around and looked over for promotion in the advertising world simply because she has boobs. Quitting her job and picking her new location by way of a dart on a map, she lands in Credence, Colorado where she spends the first two weeks holed up in her apartment bingeing Supernatural and eating and drinking all the things that are frowned upon in Los Angeles and she has zero f*cks to give about it. Realizing she’s out of food especially food that contains sugar she heads to the local diner not caring about her appearance because she has zero f*cks; sweatpants, a stained shirt, and bunny slippers she’s enjoying her two ice cream cones when Deputy Austin Cooper rolls up to check on a complaint about a “strange woman.” Lordy, I do not have to tell you that Deputy Austin Cooper is handsome, with an air of authority, good natured and instantly infatuated with Bea who happens to be 10 years his senior and he’ll be the first to tell you he doesn’t give one f*ck about their age difference.

Bea is a woman on the edge but Austin realizes that she’s someone he wants to get to know better. He listens to her, he puts her in the “pokey” because she wants that experience, and he gets her to tell him all the ways she wants to break the rules and he IS THERE FOR IT! I loved the way he volunteers to help her with her list and sets out to make sure she does all the things she wants. They fall into a friendship, that becomes a relationship (without saying the words) all while Bea tries to deny the fact she’s inspired to draw and paint again because of some things from her past.

I don’t want to say much more because this is one of those books you have to experience and I will tell you it was worth experiencing, in fact I may experience again soon that is how much I loved this book. While I was a bit disappointed in the way Bea reacted and handled some issues from her previous life, hurting Austin in the process, I also loved that Austin was man enough to make a gesture, to retreat and let her figure it out, and that once she did she made things right.

A flat out amazing love story that made me smile, tear up, and laugh so much; don’t miss Breaking All The Rules by Amy Andrews.

Spice 🔥🔥🔥

I Finished listening to the audiobook not long ago and I just can't stop smiling.

Small Town romance ✔️
Age Gap ✔️
Steamy ✔️

First of all, Bea’s first meeting with Austin was hilarious omg 😂😂... and their banter and instant connection was everything. Love it.
I fell in love with them instantly.

This book has so much depth.
I'm happy Bea was able to rediscover herself, connect with other people, come into terms with her past and re-invents her life.

📖 Beatrice Archer has always done everything she’s supposed to.....
She’s taking her life back. Starting with moving to Nowhere, Colorado to live life on her own terms.
...When it comes to breaking rules, Officer Austin Cooper is surprisingly eager to assist. He’s charming, a little bit cowboy, and a whole lot sexy. But Bea’s about to discover that breaking the rules has consequences. And all of the cherry pies in Colorado can’t save her from what’s coming…

Get this book. Get this book. Get this book. And you'll have so much fun reading/listening to it.

Thank you Amy Andrews, RB Media and NetGalley for my audio copy.
Mia Barron you did really good with the narration

Breaking All the Rules is an entertaining small-town romance about a girl fed up with her life. After always being passed over for promotion, losing out to men less qualified than her. She decides enough is enough and quits her job in Los Angeles for a different life, one where she can live life her way and break any rule she wants.

Which leads her to the small-town of Credence, Colorado. A place she finds thanks to a dart in a map, and where she embraces her new life with gusto and where she meets Austin Cooper a local police officer. Who is immediately drawn to the delightful and older Bea, bunny slippers and all.

And it's fair to say Austin is eager to assist Bea in her journey of rule breaking and fun and the sparks soon fly!

And with a storyline that perfectly balances humour and heat Breaking All the Rules is an engaging fun, read. That features plenty of banter, likable characters and some emotion too.

I would happily recommend it to others.

All right, ladies, this one is for all of us that have been passed over for that promotion, looked down on for our choices, are trying desperately not to let anyone down, and have finally had enough.

Saying I loved this book would be such an understatement, the wit, the comedic timing, the slow burn but freaking amazing romance, I loved it all.

I'm not giving anything away because I think everyone should read or listen to this book, and I can't wait to read more by this author, she's phenomenal.

Now since I had the privilege of the audiobook version of this book I have to talk about the narrator for a moment, Mia Barron is amazing, I loved the inflections she used in her take on the characters, it was all wonderful.

Thank you to NetGalley and RB Media for providing an advance copy of this audiobook, I have voluntarily listened to and reviewed it and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
