Mated Enemies

Rate this book
He’s my enemy, it has been this way since the bond of the ancients and yet, ever since the first moment I saw him, I’ve wanted him in the most primal way. One look at him and my womb contracted as my body secreted its juices as if preparing to mate.
Thousands of years ago a vampire-fairy mating went very wrong, ending in the death of one and the permanent insanity of another, causing a rift between the two clans that has lasted until this day.
Now crown prince Lucien Star of the sky kingdom, home of the ruling clan of vampires who also rule over the rest of the immortal world finds himself imprinted on a fairy living in the human world. He has only seven days to bring her to heel or his life could go up in flames, literally.
But when he spies on her as she takes her early morning swim in the little lake beside her woodland home, he senses that there’s more to his future bride than at first glance. Something that can make an already dangerous situation worst: much-much worst.

The idea of the story wasn’t bad but there’s a fair bit of improvements that could be made.

**spoilers**
1. Editing. There were so many basic grammatical errors. Here’s a hint - the words worse and worst are not interchangeable 🙄.
2. The blatant double standard. The hero is thinking to himself that he hasn’t had sex for over a week (the horror) and barely two pages later he thinks that she had better be a virgin. He’s had more lovers than he could count “Do you know how old I am?” and yet she’s hundreds (maybe thousands?) of years old and she’s expected to be a virgin. Or else.
3. He keeps thinking about how huge his dick is. So huge that it has caused permanent damage to other women’s vaginas. Seriously? That’s not sexy. But - surprise! - the heroine has no problems with his (I think it was 16 inches?) huge dick. There’s no explanation as to why she is the only woman in creation that can handle the ‘monster’ 🙄.
4. The inequality between the hero and heroine. The hero has so much power. Even his pet is a badass in its own right. As for the heroine, she’s supposedly been chosen to lead her people. Yet she lives and acts like an 18 year old and knows absolutely nothing about his people (vampyres) despite the fact that their people have been in a feud for years and years. You’d think that as a leader she should be informed, but no, she’s naive and ignorant. She’s also weak, both in mind and in power. She demonstrates no powers except she can commune with animals and be passive aggressive. She even has a few TSTL moments where her unborn child has to save her. I think her multiple personalities are the only reason the hero likes her - he gets three women in one. Bonus!

There are not words to describe just how truly awful this book is, please Satan, erase it from my memory so I can sleep again.
If a man having sex with an unconscious woman, whilst telepathically conversing with the one day old feotus inside her sounds appealing to you, then please go right ahead.
Also the female protagonist is as charismatic as a soggy flannel.

A hot mess

God where do I begin...so I could have been generous and given the book 3 stars but after reflecting on the hours spent reading this train wreck I settled on two. The positives: 1) the plot premise was good so it made me want to finish and 2) there were a couple funny LOL moments. The negatives: 1) The first 48% of the book! That was such a wasted opportunity for the reader to get to really know the 2 main characters but they had such little interaction that it just felt like no story or character development happening. 2) I am in no way prudish and I love a good smutty romance novel. With that being said, I felt like this is a sex book with about 20 pages of story. Needed more of a balance to keep me as the reader interested, and 3) There were some really bizarre fantasy ideas going on such as vampyre impregnation, pregnancy, and dragon sex. A little too over the top for me.

Jordan hit her first paranormal book out of the park. This one reminded me of some of her earlier work, more so Night Visits which I absolutely loved. I did not want to put this one down, then did not want it to end. I loved the characters and the way she brought them to life with her words. This is one that will definitely be on my reread list. I can only hope that this won't be the last time that we get to read about this family.

If you can find something else to read, then don't waste your time on this one

It really needs someone to proof read it, as it has so many mistakes, and a lot of sentences don't even make sense.
The plot itself, wasn't so bad, but it has a lot of things that made it (even for a fantasy) too unrealistic

Minor grammatical errors, this book could benefit from an editor. For those familiar with Talon’s Heart, this parallels a supernatural Talon and his amplified overprotectiveness; complete with a vindictive villainess (Sabrina) vying for his affection and being positively Machiavellian in attempting to eliminate her perception of the competition.

Lucien and Natalia are fated mates. He is of a Royal Vampyre clan, all bluster, no bite...in regard to his Elf, nymph, faerie Princess...not necessarily in that order.

Nuances of Twilight with the unborn foetus having supernatural abilities to protect Natalia in this case. Entertaining aspects of humour..faeries, nymphs, elves, vampyres, dragons and a token hag.

There was so much room for character development and a stronger plot, and this book fell short from every angle. For the first half of the book, the writing was so atrocious that I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to finish. Almost every paragraph had a phrase that ended with -ass. Crazy ass, schizo ass, tiny ass, etc. everything ended in ass and it was bothering me so much I wasn’t sure I’d finish. About 60% through, the writing changed and the book was tolerable. I wouldn’t recommend this book to anyone...

Excellent story. Very reminiscent of Night Moves but yet completely different. It had all the elements that JS puts in her books that I love. Definitely recommend this one and I can say with a certainty that it is a new favorite of mine that I will be reading over and over

This was good. Had some twilight phrases that I like. The 'h' had some preconceived notions about the 'H' that were understandable however, once she got over that she could see they were created for each other which bought about a alphalicious story for me. 😉 if your into alpha Prince dragons, fae, nymphs and elf then this books for you. Happy reading!

Poor grammar, spelling, punctuation

I couldn't get past the first 10 pages. The premise of the story was promising, but there were so many errors in those 10 pages that I couldn't continue. If you want your stories to be read and appreciated, please get an editor!!

I know it's very early in the story but I was.reading it feeling like I was missing something out. Like the whole background to their world and races. Also I hadn't read an introduction to was who or charter descriptions

This could have been a good book, the concept was interesting. However, it is totally about sex, no story, no character development, just sex. I prefer a great love story.

Romance

This was good and there was a lot more story to be had from your average Jordan Silver book. Would have liked more of the JS smut though.

The storyline was interesting- different races/classes, paranormal. Then the worst thing happened: it was written badly, very badly. Grammatical errors, spelling errors, typos with zeros instead of "o". This could not be written by a woman unless she enjoys rape fantasies (perhaps, but then she has never been forced before) and has no idea what is pleasurable. The writer needs a few things 1. Editor, 2. English language structure and grammar lessons, 3. ANATOMY. He licked her "womb with his tongue" Seriously so very bad. and she loved it? The cervix has no sensors for pleasure, He entered her womb with the tip of his penis? Again, Seriously? 14 Inch dick in a petite woman? Anatomy!! A 10 inch tongue? She hid from him, that has all the red flags of abuse. Ugh. I could probably fill the page with errors of many sorts, but you get my point.
Some places it was so gag worthy, more bad sex than content. He loved her and then had sex with her while she slept? That is not in the definition of "he loved her beyond words". I wont be reading another of his/her books too much annoyance, but I did give it a chance.

Was ok

The story was ok but there was too much information. Plus my logical brain was too busy analysing all the big numbers that appeared in the book. Like some of the characters living hundreds of thousands years, the 14 inch dodah. It was a bit too much. The sex scenes were very unrealistic and dont get me started on the swearing. The writing was childish in my opinion. A shame because the story itself was pretty good when i block out the nonsense bits. I flipped pages a lot to get to the end.

This has got to be the most boring book I've ever slogged through. The h and H has no character development at all; the first half of the book is basically H's monologue on how he can't rush the mating and him trying to calm h's fears. h is a boring scaredy cat who can't think beyond her prejudice of H's people. Her sisters are her enablers. Save yourself the time and skip this one. Not one of Jordan's best work at all.

4-4.5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Summary:
Mated Enemies is about Lucien and Natalia who are fated to one another but are of different species. There has long been tension among the vampyre and fairy species, however, the mating of the two brings hope to a friendlier future for both sides. Despite the peace that it may bring, there is still hesitance, especially from the vulnerable faes who are at a much disadvantageous position than the stronger vampires. Along with those who are against their union, the bond between Lucien and Natalia are threatened

I honestly loved this more than I thought I would’ve. It was cute and unique but got weird at times. But not weird enough that I might even reread this.

It reminded me of Chinese fantasy dramas but I haven’t really watched much.

The first quarter though I had to fight my sleepiness as like classic J.S. works, there was a lengthy prose of characters’ rumblings that were somehow repetitive. After that, when the plot was back on its way, it was an easy read. There was just too much mentioning of Lucien’s past which I wasn’t a fan of, especially of one in a mate trope. Other than these it was quite a fun read.

I loved the characters. They were equally sweet and spicy at the same time. Unlike her other works there was more depth in the heroine. The story likewise as well.

I somehow wish it was longer, as cute as a read that it was.

Interesting paranormal erotica

I believe this is the first paranormal read from Jordan Silver and it was a wonderful start. The characters are fleshed out nicely and the world building was nicely done. The hero was a vampire dragon shifter. he was a classic OTT J/P alpha who only wanted his mate. I loved how protective he was of her and how he handled all of her “personalities “. That being said I had a really hard time liking the heroine. At the beginning she was fearful of everything and constantly thought about running. Then her thoughts turned to more of the “selfish TSTL” variety. I didn’t like how invasive the hero could be but to handle the heroine he basically had to be that way since she had no communication skills at all. It got to a point where every time she got a thought in her head he just put her to sleep.🤨

There was a long buildup to the first sex scene/mating but when it did happen it was so fast I didn’t even know what was going on. I expected more from the period talk but then that never came into play.

HEA with epilogue!!
OW drama- yes but the hero was all about the heroine
Sex scenes🔥🔥🔥- After the initial encounter it got very steamy
Plot- good with some holes throughout. It seems like too much paranormal stuff was thrown into one world and just didn’t really work. I felt so bad for the uncle😢 and really wanted him to have a HEA but I know that’s not happening.

I wonder if she will put out a story about the sisters?

Better than I expected

I’m actually really surprised at this book and how much I enjoyed it. I really enjoyed the characters and the epilogue was by far my favorite part.
I’m not really sure on what to rate this one. I’m thinking 3.5-4 stars because I did have a few complaints with it, even though I enjoyed the book.
The first half of the book really drug on to me. I kept wanting something to happen soon and nothing did. It really did take until 50% before the book moved any. Then once it did it was nothing but sex FOREVER! I found myself skipping through those scenes because it was never ending.
With that being said after you get through all of that the story was actually good and captivating.
So yeah I didn’t hate it I enjoyed it a lot there were just some aspects of the book that I didn’t like. Overall really good and I look forward to reading whatever else this author puts out.

Amazing!!!

This was more than a story, this was a tale that was breathtakingly descriptive! I absolutely loved the characters! Jordan’s type of funny a constant, and the different POV’s were very enjoyable without being too much or overwhelming. I always knew who was speaking and the story kept me enthralled from the very beginning. Although long It didn’t feel like one of her longer books and I am praying we get more stories from this world. I know I had read in IG that this story wasn’t well received and I am honestly flabbergasted. Between work and distance learning I was able to Finnish this amazing tale within a couple of days. I have gone through phases in the past where I would be into paranormal stories but not lately as they all seem so similar. This book felt as though it came from a veteran paranormal author with unrivaled success and it couldn’t have been better! A big thank you to Jordan Silver! 🙏 more please!!!

What I liked: Unique backstory as to why they are enemies in the first place.

Hero is very funny.

Heroine is independent/self sufficient.

What I didn't like that much: Hero's humor and personality is 100% in his internal monologue. He barely speaks to the heroine. I understand why she stays scared of him most of the book: she barely knows him.

Kind of drags in the middle. They are not really having conversations to move this relationship forward. He is just seducing her a lot. But she can't develop feelings like love, because he's basically a complete stranger the whole time.

Some syntax and punctuation errors need editing. It wasn't a deal breaker for me. Like anytime something got worse, they use "got worst" instead of worse. But, ok I understand what you're saying, it got worse. No big deal.

Fantastic storyline!!!

The storyline was very very good but the proofers let us down big time! There’s way too many typos and even more grammatical errors. The only way I was able to read this great book was to slowly pay attention to every word which is quite frustrating because I read three to four books a week, believe it or not! I love to read and the paranormal romance genre is my favorite, so when I find a really great storyline I don’t want to have to think about how a sentence is supposed to be written. Otherwise I would highly recommend reading this story and any other books written by this author (sorry I cannot remember her name because this is the first title of her collection I’ve read). That’s why I gave 5 stars even with the errors.

Too descriptive...drawn out..not sure...but enjoyable

A friend is constantly telling my to read Jordan Silver books but also says if she had a good editor and proofreader they would be phenomenal. I see what she means now. I enjoyed the story overall but it felt too long at times. Their pre meeting was about world building and backstop that was too much and is referenced repeatedly throughout the story. The transitions between certain characters talking is confusing sometimes but that might be an editing or format issue. Maybe some bits could've been cut out as well. It felt like this story should've been shorter, part of a series, or expanded with more storyline to not make it stretch on like it did.
