When I fell in love with the Phantom of the Opera right on the cusp of my teens, the story of courage and compassion was a life raft for me. But even then there was one problem with the story I loved...Erik, the Phantom, ended up alone, even though he was redeemed. It was a tragedy even though it was a love story.
