“I thought about how all that mattered, in all entirety, and all I wanted,
and all I could see anything being worth anything for, was being a writer.”

What part of Potential are you gonna read at Book Soup? Same as at Rocketship? I have heard that a lot of the LA-based Booksters can be found hanging around that location. Being as I've become a little obsessed with the intersection of Bookface and real life, I want full reports on all Bookster-like characters you might come across, complete with illustrations, transcripts, and any highly personal information you might glean.
Also, the more I think about this book, the more I felt like I also read it, but this is just another one of these situations that makes me hope I never have to testify as a witness to a crime, because I obviously have a weak mind and am easily led.
Ariel, there's a group on here called "what the hell is the name of that book" or something along those lines. You should try there, if you haven't yet. I bet someone will know....
i could only find one of the books i was thinking of, but its called "behind the bedroom wall." it doesn't really match the description you gave though, haha.
ariel - as far as the attic book goes, there are two children's books about the holocaust that you could potentially be thinking about, so maybe the secret was that they were harboring jews and that was why your teacher didn't count "toys" as a correct answer. i can try to find the names of those two books if you think thats what it was.
