Hi, I'm Kelsey

I apparently like writing enough to string together hundreds of thousands of words into cohesive and coherent sentences. I also apparently really like escapism.
But I know for a fact I love my husband, family, friends, and huskies.
I run a steel company that I watched my father build from the ground up 10 years ago. His legacy is my first priority. My personal legacy (my art and novels) are my second priority (they pay the bills and travel expenses significantly less than the first).

I'm addicted to anything wholesome, clean, and what makes me feel good on the day to day.
Examples: praying, healthy eating, running, alone time.
NOT Examples: discomfort for the sake of fashion, co-dependence, pickles

“If there's nothing new under the sun, then search above it.”

“The night,” he repeats, his thumb stroking the skin of my stomach through the fabric of my dress. “That is precisely why people take my kingdom for granted. No one sees the darkness, and yet it’s everywhere. We are surrounded by an entire universe of it. It came before us, it will live on long after us. Even the stars might form and then die, but the darkness will always be there.”
Laura Thalassa, Rhapsodic

“The path to holiness lies through questioning everything.”
M. Scott Peck, The Road Less Traveled (Korean Edition): A New Psychology of Love, Traditional Values

“Mr. Ravenel is here on a business matter, and the tenants need his attention far more than we do.”
“But Kathleen,” Cassandra said in concern, “we mustn’t let him work himself into exhaustion.”
Kathleen burst out laughing. “Darling, I doubt he’s ever worked a day in his life. Let’s not distract him on his first attempt.”
Lisa Kleypas, Cold-Hearted Rake

“It had played out when, for reasons I don’t understand, I was unable to climb through the mirror and send out my sixteen-year-old self in my place. Until that moment she had always been there. No matter how much I appeared to have changed—how illustrious my education, how altered my appearance—I was still her. At best I was two people, a fractured mind. She was inside, and emerged whenever I crossed the threshold of my father’s house. That night I called on her and she didn’t answer. She left me. She stayed in the mirror. The decisions I made after that moment were not the ones she would have made. They were the choices of a changed person, a new self. You could call this selfhood many things. Transformation. Metamorphosis. Falsity. Betrayal. I call it an education.”
