Is this my favorite graphic novel of the year? YES, YES IT IS.

I really liked both Stargazing and The Prince & the Dressmaker, but Jen Wang honestly knocked it out of the park with this one. 10/10.

Haven't really been in a reading mood lately, but this graphic novel required so much of my brain power that it quieted the swirly thoughts and let me read.

“And I smile at her and my mom
and think how lucky I am
to finally be seen
by people who understand.”
Andrea Beatriz Arango, Iveliz Explains It All

“How it’s not my brain being messed up, but more my heart being hurt, and how sometimes we think we’re okay, we think we’ve moved on, but then our hearts crack open months or even years later and it’s important to stop, be kind to ourselves, and ask for help— ask for love.”
Andrea Beatriz Arango, Iveliz Explains It All

“I am not okay,
and sometimes
I wish people wouldn't believe me
when I say I am.
I wish they would ask, just one more time,
and I wish they wouldn't tiptoe around me
like I'm a poem,
so I could show them that I'm a real girl,
accidentally cracked.”

“Voici mon secret. Il est très simple: on ne voit bien qu'avec le cœur. L'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux.”
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Le Petit Prince

“Did I want him to act? Or would I prefer a lifetime of longing provided we both kept this little Ping-Pong game going: not knowing, not-not-knowing, not-not-not-knowing? Just be quiet, say nothing, and if you can't say "yes," don't say "no," say "later." Is this why people say "maybe" when they mean "yes," but hope you'll think it's "no" when all they really mean is, Please, just ask me once more, and once more after that?
André Aciman, Call Me by Your Name

“I was always hungry for love. Just once, I wanted to know what it was like to get my fill of it -- to be fed so much love I couldn't take any more. Just once. ”
Haruki Murakami, Norwegian Wood
