Inspiration generally comes to me in a flash, but I then spend a lot of time researching that idea before putting pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard). For instance, I'm working on a story at the moment about a woman who manifests an amazing relationship into her life... So before I even write a word, I spend a lot of time researching how that would be done. I find the research process extremely fulfilling. I hope this answers your question. (less)

Thanks for asking - great question. I've been writing now for 25 years, but the first few years were about learning to treat it like any job, and not sit around waiting for inspiration. A lot of the books I've written are for educational publishers. When my kids were younger I'd drop them at school and work until pickup time. On those days where it's difficult to get into it, I start with a sprint... put a timer on for 20 minutes and force myself to write for that time. Usually by the time the alarm goes off, I'm into the writing. Hope that answers it for you. :) Jane(less)
