The 2023 Melbourne Cup has been won by Without A Fight ($9.30, third-favourite).

Soulcombe came in second ($3.40) two and a half lengths back, with Sheraz third ($19.90) and Ashrun fourth.

It became the first horse to complete the Caulfield Cup - Melbourne Cup double since Ethereal in 2001.

Jockey Mark Zahra went back to back after riding Gold Trip last year.

The race began at 3:08pm.

Serpentine led when they passed the finishing post for the first time from Future History, Magical Lagoon and Vow and Declare, and led until the final turn.
