Actress Sofia Oxenham is being lined up to play Princess Beatrice in the three-part A Very Royal Scandal drama based on the Prince Andrew and Jeffrey Epstein scandal, Express.co.uk can reveal.

The upcoming Amazon MGM Studios series is based on Emily Maitlis' perspective in securing an interview with Prince Andrew to discuss the Jeffrey Epstein debacle.

Other new actors in consideration to join the cast include Clare Calbraith as Sam McAllister, John Hopkins as Jeffrey Epstein and Giulio Cavazzini as Princess Beatrice's husband Edoardo Mozzi.

The rest of the cast includes the already announced Michael Sheen as Prince Andrew, Ruth Wilson as Emily Maitlis and Joanna Scanlan as Amanda Thirsk.

A source tells Express.co.uk that Princess Beatrice, 35, was initially dreading the release of the Emily Maitlis produced Amazon series, but following the reaction to Netflix's Scoop she's now changed her tune.

"Beatrice was originally dreading the release of A Very Royal Scandal because she feared the backlash it would receive," the source said.

"Since she's seen how Scoop was produced and realised that it didn't reflect badly on her, she's less concerned for the next one later this year.”

Sofia Oxenham is said to be a "good pick" to play Beatrice as she strikes a strong resemblance to the young princess.
