Sarah Ferguson has ruled out walking down the aisle with her ex-husband Prince Andrew again as she believes they're happier as friends. The Duke and Duchess of York tied the knot back in 1986, but called it quits six years into their married life, and officially divorced in 1996.

In 2007, Sarah said she made the decision to part ways with Andrew as she wanted to work and couldn't do so while married into the royal family. The former couple, who share two daughters Princess Eugenie, 34, and Princess Beatrice, 35, have since remained friends and continue living together.

The former couple are also proud grandparents to Eugenie's son August, three, and baby Ernest, as well as Beatrice's daughter Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi, two. Over the years, there's been speculation that with the pair being so close, they could get back together, however she has now confirmed this won't be happening.

In her own words, she told Bella Magazine: "I get asked that all the time. We are very happy as we are now, thank you!" During the interview, the 64-year-old also recalled how her "life changed forever" when she married Andrew.

On what it was like to be thrown into the spotlight, she shared: "Of course, being in the public eye constantly brings challenges, but also great privileges. I hope I have used whatever platform I have to bring about some good, particularly in terms of my charity work."

Sarah additionally said that after being a "people-pleaser" in her younger years and taking criticism to heart, she now lives with a much thicker skin.

"As I have got older, I have realised that you can't expect to please all of the people all of the time.

"When I walk into a room now, I accept that 50 per cent may like me and 50 per cent may not, and that's just fine."

While Sarah hasn't been an official royal since her split from Andrew, the pair still live together and she remains close to the family.

Sarah Ferguson King and Princess Kate health update

Following the late Queen's death in 2022, she and Andrew took on caring for her two Corgis; Sandy and Muiick.

In an update on how they were getting on, Sarah said they are "very happy" and have bonded with her own Norfolk terriers.

Revealing the sentimental way she keeps the Queen's memory alive for them, she added: "The Queen used to snap a biscuit in her hand for them and I do the same to remind them of her."

Back in April, royal biographer Andrew Lownie told the Daily Express US why he believes the former couple still live together 28 years on from their divorce.

He said: "The reason they are still living together is party because that they are still really good friends, and partly because they want to be good parents.

"She of course gets all the benefits of and status of being still connected to the Royal Family.

“She can live at Royal Lodge for free, and all the benefits of cooks and stuff, and it gives her her status, which is very important to her, by means of earning of a living.”
