Samsung has confirmed its next major Unpacked launch event is happening this week and the tech giant looks set to unveil a slew of shiny new devices, if rumours and leaks are to be believed. It means that come Wednesday, the Samsung Galaxy phone in your pocket could look a little outdated, with all signs pointing to a revamp of the foldable Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip line up, as well as new Galaxy Watch models and new Galaxy Buds earbuds.

We even know for certain that new Galaxy phones are coming as Samsung is running a promotion where if you register your interest, you can get £50 off the “newest Galaxy smartphones” when they go up for sale soon, next to a countdown to a launch event.

Galaxy Unpacked is being live streamed around the world on 10 July at 2pm BST from Paris, but thanks to several leaks from renowned leaker Evan Blass on X, we have a decent idea of what is coming.

Though some of the images have now been taken down, The Verge reported Blass shared the spec sheets for an upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6, the next generation of Samsung’s foldable phones. Both phones are said to be lighter than the Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5. The new Fold is supposedly 14 grams lighter, while 1.4mm shorter, 1mm wider and 1.3mm thinner when folded, and also 1.4mm shorter, 2.7mm wider and 0.5mm thinner when unfolded.

This doesn’t sound like a lot but for a book-style folding device whose older versions are still quite chunky, it could make a big difference in-hand as every millimetre counts when slimming down smartphones. The phone’s edges also look more squared off in some leaked images.

Meanwhile, the Z Flip 6 appears to have gone through a little bit of external change with a few colour options including pastel yellow and light blue efforts. The flip phone has also allegedly got a big update to its main camera lens, boosted to a 50MP sensor over the 12MP one seen on the Z Flip 5. Seeing as cameras have usually been an area Samsung has compromised on its foldables, we have high hopes this new camera can change that.

Both phones are said to have IP48 water and dust resistance, which is very protective for phones with physical moving hinges, plus both will likely have the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor seen in the Galaxy S24 series and other Android phones such as the OnePlus 12. The Z Flip 6 also seemingly has a larger battery at 4,000mAh - it could be quite the upgrade if all these tweaks add up.

With no reported changes to the camera or battery on the Z Fold 6 compared to its predecessor, Samsung could be relying on the apparent design tweaks to tempt new buyers. The prices haven’t yet leaked, but given the Z Fold 5 started at £1,749 when it launched we imagine most people wanting to get their hands on one of the latest foldables Galaxy phones will be opting for a contract deal to spread the cost.

Rumours also point to Samsung finally properly launching the wearable tracker Galaxy Ring that it teased back in January at the Galaxy S24 launch. We’ll be bringing you all the latest from Galaxy Unpacked on Wednesday.
