Large dogs can make the best family pets, especially when you have the space to accommodate them and the time to take them out for daily walks. 

The prestigious Kennel Club revealed the large dog breeds that are the most affectionate to their owners and to others in the pack – including additional pets and children.

Some large dog breeds are known for their friendly personalities, so which loveable giant would you want living alongside you?

There are the most obvious picks, such as Labrador Retrievers and Golden Retrievers, but then there are more obscure breeds you may not have heard of. 

Here are the top five most affectionate large dog breeds that make the perfect companion while at home, and out and about.
