Chocolate fans' delight as Cadbury offers 'dream' taste-testing job
Cadbury is on the hunt for a 'Chocolate Taster' to join their team and have a say on new products - fans are desperate to apply for the 'dream job'
Imagine clocking into work and your day's agenda is chock-full of chocolate tasting - well, Cadbury is turning that dream job into a reality.
Mondelez International, the company that owns the beloved British confectionery giant, is on the hunt for a new "Chocolate Taster" to join its team.
The lucky candidate will be paid to sample a variety of chocolatey treats, from brand-new bars to biscuits and even bites from sharing bags.
This isn't the first time Cadbury has hired taste testers; the firm previously advertised similar positions in Wokingham. However, this time the lucky candidate will join their team at the Research and Development Centre at Mondelez International team at their site in Bournville, Birmingham. The announcement came on Sunday (July 7), just in time for World Chocolate Day, sending sweet-toothed fans into a frenzy.
Announcing the role on the Cadbury UK Instagram page, the company said: "As it's World Chocolate Day, we are giving you the unique opportunity to become a Chocolate Taster! Think you can tick all the boxes?"
The role involves working alongside a panel of tasters, sampling products, and providing candid feedback. Applicants must have a fervent interest in food, excellent communication skills, a knack for honest critique, and an enthusiasm for trying innovative confections.
Key duties for the Chocolate Taster include objectively assessing chocolate samples, collaborating with a team to agree on flavour profiles, articulating thoughts clearly about the products, and understanding the ethical and legal compliance responsibilities associated with the position. The job is, however, part-time, offering only eight hours per week which some might find a perfect side hustle.
Potential applicants are warned that any dietary restrictions may disqualify them from this role as product testing includes items containing dairy, gluten and nuts. One individual reacting to the job advert quipped: "I guess someone has to do it. Very tempted."

Others referred to it as the "dream job", with one person noting: "I would love to be a chocolate taster."
Another respondent shared a nostalgic tale about their mother's experience as a Cadbury chocolate tester: "When my mum was a child she was chocolate tester for Cadbury. They sent her chocolates in the post and she had to write about them. She still has the certificate."
