The Loose Women star, 64, took to Instagram to reveal that her beloved dog Maggie underwent an operation. On Thursday (July 4), Ruth shared a video of the Collie cross running towards her after finishing with the vet.

She then posted several other clips, including one as she stroked Maggie while she recovered at home. In the caption, Ruth wrote: "Maggie had a little wart removed this morning under sedation so she’s feeling a bit sorry for herself this afternoon!"

The former This Morning presenter added: "Lots of TLC from Mummy required." She signed off the post by thanking St Georges Veterinary Centre for looking after "our precious girl".

Ruth's followers flooded the comments with supportive messages, with one writing: "Glad Maggie is ok please hurry back to loose women we love you xx."

A second added: "Sending big hugs to maggie. I hope she gets better soon xo." Another agreed: "Awww. She’ll be glad to be home. Hope she’s ok, makes me sad when you have to leave them at the vets for anything."

Geordie Shore star Vicky Pattison commented: "Oh Maggie. Sending you both love." Someone else echoed: "Bless her! Maggie is so gorgeous! Hope all is well with her recovery."

In May, Ruth and Eamonn Holmes confirmed they were in the process of divorcing after 14 years of marriage. Earlier this week, Eamonn, 64, was forced to pull out of GB News mid-way through the show.

Eamonn kicked off his Breakfast Show opposite co-host Isabel Webster on Tuesday (July 2), but sparked concern amongst fans after he disappeared.

However, he left the desk offscreen around 7:45, during an interview with Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Mental Health Maria Caulfield, forcing Isabel to host the final 90 minutes solo.

A GB News spokesperson told Express.co.uk that the broadcaster was forced to leave after falling ill, saying: "Eamonn had to finish earlier today as he was feeling unwell. He hopes to be back tomorrow."
