One of the Broncos' defensive coaches is set to participate in an NFL program designed to curate development and networking opportunities.

Outside Linebackers Coach Michael Wilhoite will represent the Broncos' coaching staff at the 2024 Coach Accelerator program from May 20-22 at the NFL's Spring League Meeting.

The Spring Accelerator is the fifth edition of the program since it was founded in 2022.

According to the NFL, the program is designed to provide a platform for clubs and owners to "engage with qualified coaching candidates from diverse backgrounds." The NFL has seen the program contribute to an increase in interview opportunities for diverse candidates and also lead to promotions for previous participants.

"Developing diverse coaching talent through the Accelerator program is a key priority," NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement. "In its fifth iteration, this program continues to be an effective avenue for club owners and executives to be exposed to the skillset and unique backgrounds of highly qualified coaching candidates, and for the program's participants to network with one another and engage in professional development sessions."

Wilhoite began coaching after a six-year NFL career with the 49ers and Seahawks. He served as a special teams assistant for the Saints in 2019 before shifting to the defensive side of the ball in 2020. Wilhoite then spent a pair of seasons as the Chargers' linebackers coach before joining the Broncos' coaching staff in 2023.

Executive Director of Football Operations/Special Advisor to the GM Kelly Kleine Van Calligan and Vice President of Football Administration Rich Hurtado have previously participated in the NFL's Front Office Accelerator program. Former Defensive Coordinator Ejiro Evero and former Defensive Backs Coach Christian Parker attended the program while with the Broncos in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
