A TikTok sleuth who discovered a pair of sunglasses during the hunt for missing Brit Jay Slater has mysteriously disappeared from social media.

The search for the 19-year-old was officially called off two weeks ago, nearly two weeks after he went missing. The Lancashire lad was reported missing in Tenerife on June 17 after he called his friend Lucy, telling her he was lost in a rural area of the island with only 1% battery left on his phone. His last known location was half a mile north of Masca village.

Despite ongoing efforts by emergency workers, including the Civil Guard, mountain rescue team and fire crews, the challenging terrain of the Rural de Teno park is proving difficult to search.

It was later revealed TikTo ksleuths were flying out to help, with the most famous among them being Paul Arnott, 29. He had been in Tenerife already searching for Jay – unofficially and without Guardia Civil backing – with the family later turning to him for help.

And last week, he took to TikTok to claim a new clue had been found by a bloke called "Chris”, and said: "There's two bits of information I'm going off, one of which is a 'three word' GPS, and the other is going to be a pair of sunglasses that were found by a man called Chris.”

However, a week later it has now emerged that that Chris – also known as Chris from Tenerife – has disappeared without a trace on TikTok. Despite being active until just yesterday, the TikTokker has now vanish, with social media users flocking to Paul Arnott's TikTok to ask why.

Arnott has not replied to any of the users posing the question, but the mystery over why he has gone and where remains unsolved – despite the unofficial search for Jay Slater continuing.
