'We had a 20 minute divorce!' Strictly's Ranvir Singh admits she had a 'total meltdown' and walked out while training with Giovanni Pernice
Strictly Come Dancing's Ranvir Singh admitted that she had a 'total meltdown' during rehearsals with professional partner Giovanni Pernice.
Speaking on Tuesday's Good Morning Britain, the broadcaster, 43, told co-star Kate Garraway, 53, that she and the dancer had a '20 minute divorce' as things became tense in the training room.
Discussing the gruelling rehearsals with Kate, Ranvir admitted she had to walk out and take some time for herself after the dancer, 30, 'put me in my place'.

With Giovanni joining in the chat via video call, Ranvir told how things became heated just four days into rehearsals, as she said: 'We've had our moments, haven't we Giovanni?'
She continued: 'We had a 20 minute divorce, we needed 20 minutes apart and then it's been plain sailing ever since.'
Kate, who took part in the fifth series of the BBC dance show, then asked her co-star: 'Did you storm off, Ranvir?'

To which the political editor replied: 'Well, we had a quiet moment when we needed time to ourselves.'
She added of their tense encounter: 'I have to be honest I had a total meltdown and Giovanni put me in my place.
'He pointed to his arm, which says 'never give up' and says "that's just who I am".'
Giving his take on things, Giovanni said: 'You have never done anything like this before. To listen to someone repeat things for hours, telling you what to do, that is uncomfortable.

It comes after Ranvir was teased her co-hosts on Monday, as they pointed out an awkward mishap from Saturday's Strictly Come Dancing launch.
The star was seen being introduced to her new dance partner Giovanni on the BBC ballroom show when he surprised her as she walked her adorable pooch Shmizzels in a park.

However, the TV journalist appeared to be so distracted by the professional dancer that she failed to notice her pet's legs had become tangled in a leash, forcing him to walk backwards as Ranvir strolled and chatted with Giovanni.
The unintentionally hilarious moment caught the attention Kate, who said to Ranvir: 'It seems you were rather taken with Giovanni, and actually poor Shmizzels your dog couldn't keep up with you!'
As cameras zoomed on Schmizzels, Kate added: 'This actually stole a lot of people's attention… This is you and Giovanni meeting for the first time, clearly getting on famously. Poor Shmizzels has got himself all tangled up!'

Forward march: On Strictly, Ranvir was seen meeting dancer Giovanni Pernice, but her poor dog Schmizzels was forced to walk backwards after getting caught in his leash
Laughing at the unfortunate moment, Ranvir, mother of eight-year-old son Tushaan, joked: 'It's like I couldn't care less!'
Kate kept the ribbing coming as she joked: 'Basically, he used to be the apple of your eye and now Giovanni is on the scene.'
Gushing about her pooch, Ranvir said: 'He's lovely, he's eating a lot of cheese, which is his favourite, because I bought him a lot at the weekend. I hadn't even noticed until somebody tweeted it but it's so funny.'

Ranvir is set to join her 11 fellow contestant when they take to the dance floor for the first live show on Saturday.
It comes after the pre-recorded launch show at the weekend, which saw the celebrities paired up with their pro partners.
Strictly Come Dancing airs Saturday at 7.25pm on BBC One.
