Ben Cousins made his highly anticipated Dancing With The Stars debut on Sunday night.

Teaming up with dance partner Siobhan Power, the AFL legend's, 46, attempt to dance the foxtrot drew poor reviews from the judging panel.

Cousins was awarded three scores of four and one of two, for a total of 14 out of 40, placing him at the bottom of the scoreboard.

On Monday, the former AFL player admitted he had a hard time watching his first dance back.

'It was hard to watch last night because I knew what was coming,' he told Mix94.5’s Pete & Kymba.

'Whatever they did with the editing, no matter how clever they got, it was going to be almost impossible to put a positive spin on my first episode!' Ben said.

Despite watching the show with his family, Cousins said he found the experience daunting.

'I did go down to mum's place. My sister has got two little ones – 3 and 6, who are little dancers and take it very seriously, so I thought it'd be a bit of fun to go down and watch it with them.'

'I still found it hard to watch. I got up and I was cooking a steak when my dance came on and I was watching from the kitchen, but I had to look away a couple of times!' he continued.

Meanwhile, viewers had mixed feelings about seeing the fallen star back on TV screens.

Social media users shared their thoughts on X, with some uncomfortable that Ben is being given another chance given his difficult past.

'Oh great, now time for their forced Ben Cousins redemption,' complained one person on the social media platform.

'How many second chances does Ben Cousins get? He must know dirt on a lot of people,' another said.

Someone else chimed in: 'Seeing Ben Cousins on the platform doesn't sit right with me.'

'Just putting it out there that I am very uncomfortable with Ben and Ant [Middleton] in this cast. I'm not here for their redemption arc,' one more wrote.

'Ben Cousins looks like he's about to poop the whole routine,' one more joked.

Others were happy to see the former footballer have a go, with one person posting: 'At least Ben did some decent steps. Cute.'

'Loved the Foxtrot. Well done Ben and Siobhan,' wrote another person tuning in at home.
