One star on the new Channel Seven renovation series Dream Home Australia has cracked under the pressure.

Tears streamed after one contestant's house had to be demolished due to asbestos concerns and a Sydney downpour made the building site unworkable.

Couple Lara and Peter were left broken hearted during Monday night's episode, with Lara breaking down in tears as the pressure became too much.

The pair are acting as part of the renovation team attempting to transform couple Jordan and Jacinta's dilapidated Sydney home.

But their vision for the property was quickly dashed when an assessment team discovered the building was structurally unsound and riddled with asbestos.

To make matters worse, after the property was completely demolished and the couple were left with no framework, a downpour turned the site into a mud pit.

With the build delayed by four days, Lara broke down in tears, saying: 'We should be giving Jordan and Jacinta what they deserve, so it's like the worst situation.

'Maybe Jacinta and Jordan won't get their Dream Home. So yeah, the panic is starting to build up again.'

Mentally beaten and bruised by the obstacles, Lara struggled to lift her spirits again once building did get underway.

'I just feel like I'm out of ideas, I'm out of being creative. I just don't know if I can do it,' she tearfully said as she struggled to make basic interior design decisions.

The breakdown comes after reports host Dr Chris Brown was at an all time low following apparent trouble at work with Network Seven after they poached him from Channel Ten.

With both his Seven shows - Dream Home and Dancing With The Stars - being a far cry from his roots as the animal-loving Bondi Vet star, 45, sources told Woman's Day earlier this month that Chris is 'not himself'.

'The issue seems to be that neither of the two primetime slots he's been matched with [at Seven] have anything to do with who he actually is, which is a loving gorgeous kind caring vet,' an insider told the publication.

The source continued: 'A renovation show wearing hi-vis and hard hats is a long way from his stethoscope and helping pet guinea pigs. He just seems like he's not himself. Almost a bit flat.'

Dream Home continues Tuesday 7.30pm on Channel 7 and 7plus.
