AFL great Ben Cousins looks as fit and healthy as ever in a new trailer for the upcoming season of Channel Seven's Dancing With The Stars.

The sporting legend, 45, is seen flexing his bulging biceps in his iconic West Coast Eagles jersey as he prepared to hit the dance floor.

The footage begins with Cousins lifting weights at the gym, before DWTS co-hosts Dr Chris Brown and Sonia Kruger jump into frame and help Ben count his set.

'What the...?' a confused Ben asks upon noticing the hosts as they tell him,' We actually don't have much time, just put this on.'

They then hand him a bedazzled West Coast Eagles jersey adorned with shiny sequins.

The clip then cuts to throwback footage from Ben's AFL glory days with the Eagles, who he played for from 1996 - 2007, to showcase how strong and fit he was during his playing career.

Recent footage of Ben dancing up a storm during rehearsals is then played to show the sporting great is still very much as fit as he was on the sporting field.

'He's won an AFL Premiership and a Brownlow. But can the footy legend win the greatest prize of them all?' a voiceover asks.

Cousins, who has been rebuilding his life in recent years after a fall from grace, announced he'd be appearing on the competitive dance show earlier this year.

The footballer was first approached by Seven to appear SAS Australia, which is known for signing up controversial public figures.

While Cousins refused, he agreed to Dancing With The Stars as he thought focusing on a new challenge would help him rebuild his life.

Meanwhile, the complete cast for Dancing with the Stars 2024 has finally been confirmed, ahead of its premiere later this year.

In addition to Cousins, four-time Gold Logie winner Lisa McCune is set to strut her stuff on the dance floor alongside beloved MasterChef favourite Julie Goodwin and former AFL WAG Nadia Bartel.

They will join singer Samantha Jade, SAS Australia's Ant Middleton, AFL legend Shane Crawford and Olympian and former senator Nova Peris.

Rounding out this year's competitors are comedian Nikki Osborne, Home and Away's James Stewart, Better Homes and Gardens presenter Adam Dovile and chef Hayden Quinn.

Ben won the Brownlow Medal in 2005 and captained the West Coast Eagles from 2001 to 2005, securing the club's best and fairest awards four out of those season.

He played 238 games and booted 205 goals for the West Coast Eagles, where he won a premiership with the club in 2006.

His public battles began in 2007 when rumours surfaced about his drug use amid incidents like abandoning his car to evade police and being found asleep outside a casino.

Despite efforts at rehabilitation, including stints in costly US rehab facilities, his struggles persisted, culminating in multiple arrests and legal issues.

Ben continued to play professional football, even after being suspended from the AFL in 2007. He joined Richmond in 2009 but retired after two seasons.

His personal life also saw turbulence, with relationships strained and legal issues involving his former partner and children.

Ben has begun to rebuild his life of late and is now working at Channel 7 as a sports newsreader in Perth three times a week.

He has also joined a Perth radio breakfast team on Mix94.5.
