Post Malone announces Australian tour dates - but unlike Taylor Swift he's visiting many parts of the country... including one very rural area

Post Malone is getting set to tour Down Under later this year.

And unlike fellow superstar Taylor Swift, the 27-year-old American rapper's upcoming tour will take him into regional Australia, including Ballarat in Victoria.

The tattooed performer won't be starving his fans for shows like his American counterpart either.

Post, whose real name is Austin Richard Post, has announced seven shows for the Australian leg of his 'If Y'all Weren't Here, I'd Be Crying' World Tour for November-December.

The 'Rockstar' hitmaker will begin his Down Under shows in Brisbane on November 23, followed by a concert in Canberra on November 25.

Post will then head to the Gold Coast for a show on November 26, before a massive gig planned for Sydney's Domain on November 29.

The tour will wrap up with concerts in Melbourne on November 30 and Ballarat on December 2 before a final show in Perth on December 3.

The star announced the shows with a grungy tour poster, which features the controversial performer stripped to the waist and showing off his famous tattooed torso.

Post only just finished an Australian tour as support for the Red Hot Chilli Peppers earlier this year. The tour announcement comes a head of his new album Austin, which will be out on July 28.

It comes after Taylor Swift fans were left scrambling for tickets after the super star limited her handful of Australian shows to only major cities Sydney and Melbourne.

General admission tickets for the Sydney dates of Taylor Swift's Australian Eras tour sold out in two hours on Friday, after two pre-sales broke the internet earlier in the week.

Only VIP and Hotel + Ticket Packages remain across all Sydney shows.

The Speak Now songstress was forced to add the extra dates after millions of eager fans missed out on tickets during pre-sale.

Swift announced a third Melbourne show at the MCG on February 18 next year and a fourth Sydney concert at Accor Stadium on February 26 as part of The Eras Tour.

Tickets for her Sydney shows went on sale at 10am on Friday, while Melbournians will have to fight it out for a ticket at 2pm.

The Grammy award-winning star will become the first artist since Madonna to perform three consecutive concerts at the Melbourne Cricket Ground when she takes the stage in February next year, and the first ever to play a fourth straight show at Sydney's Accor Stadium.

The new gigs are in addition to the existing Melbourne concerts on February 16 and 17 and Sydney shows on February 23, 24, 25.

At one point there was a record-breaking 800,000 fans nervously waiting in the queue for tickets online, with some waiting over 15 minutes to get through to the next page.
