A list of the 10 fastest players at Euro 2024 has been released - and it does not include a single England star.

Gareth Southgate's men have progressed to the semi-finals in Germany despite failing to convince in their five matches to date.

The Three Lions have been criticised for their lack of fluidity in attack, with England's build-up play often being slow and methodical, and fresh data has highlighted how their run to the last four has not been reliant on the speed of their players.

Kyle Walker is widely considered to be one of the quickest players in the game, but even he has missed the cut on this occasion.

Instead, it is France captain Kylian Mbappe who takes top spot, having recorded a top speed of 36.5kmh (22.7mph).

Mbappe, 25, broke his nose in his country's opening match against Austria and has not scored from open play in the tournament, but that has not stopped him from displaying his frightening pace.

Second place on the list goes to Spain's Ferran Torres (22.4mph), with Slovenia striker Benjamin Sesko (22.3mph) taking the final spot on the podium.

Leroy Sane and Romania's Valentin Mihaila (22.2mph) are in joint-fourth, followed closely by France full back Theo Hernandez (22.18mph) and Switzerland winger Dan Ndoye (22.1mph).

Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven was the fastest player in the Premier League last season, and he is the first player from England's top flight on the list in joint-seventh with Ndoye.

Right behind him is another Premier League star - Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund.

Denmark exited the tournament at the last-16 stage after losing to hosts Germany and Hojlund did not score in his four outings, but still showed he is one of the quickest forwards in Europe right now.

Portugal winger Rafael Leao (22mph) is the final player in the top 10.

Interestingly, the Netherlands - England's semi-final opponents - also do not have any players in the top 10.

Ronald Koeman's team have looked dangerous on the counter-attack, scoring nine goals in five matches, with Liverpool's Cody Gakpo playing a starring role.

But neither he nor any of his team-mates have been among the fastest players in the tournament ahead of Wednesday's highly anticipated semi-final clash with England.
