That's all from Southgate and Kane...

The England manager and captain have now finished this afternoon's press conference but don't fear... there's plenty of pre-match build-up for you to sink your teeth into on the Mail Sport website.

From Gary Lineker's preferred England XI to how Gareth Southgate kicked the alpha male culture out of the Three Lions dressing room, take a look at our current top stories below...

Harry Kane on his positioning

I think there are times where the rhythm, Jude (Bellingham) or Phil (Foden) might be in the middle and I might drift out. There are different examples.
Of course as the striker you want to give as much space as possible to the midfielders, but then there's times you want to drag defenders into spaces they might not want to come either. I try to see how the game evolves, what the team needs from me, and exploit those situations.
There will be times tomorrow where I'll need to be more of a focal point and in the box more and there will be times where I drop deep and try to make it uncomfortable for defenders in situations they don't want to be in.

Gareth Southgate on Luke Shaw's availability

Luke Shaw has been injured for four months, it wasn't a possibility for him to play until the last match where he made a good contribution.
We have to decide if he is ready to start but we are very happy to have him back. He gives us balance, but Kieran Trippier has done a fantastic job. He has had many important nights with us over the last seven or eight years. He's great around the squad, we are very fortunate to have players like him in our squad.

Harry Kane on the prospect of facing Virgil van Dijk and Matthijs de Ligt

Matthijs has been a team-mate of mine, fantastic guy, we've had a lot of battles in training. In terms of Virgil, we've had some really good battles over the years. Sometimes he's won, sometimes I've won. Both players would be tough opponents and I'll do everything I can to make things as tough as possible'

Harry Kane on preparing for a semi-final now compared to previous tournaments

I think you use the past experiences to help you. We have a lot of players who have expereinced big games on a club and international level. Yeah, tomorrow will be no different. Step by step we've been getting closer to our target and during the game you lean on experiences and lean on players who've been there. We've put ourselves in a great spot and we have an opportunity to make it to back to back European finals.

Gareth Southgate on how he's expecting the Netherlands to set up

That wouldn't be normal for the way Dutch teams play and it's not what we've seen from them. Ronald is an experienced coach and could adapt in a different way to how they have been so far. We're prepared for anything
We need another step from what we showed in the last game, it's a step up in quality of opponents and we are ready for that.

Harry Kane on pressure ahead of the semi-final

I don't think we speak about it in the dressing room. The ones who have had more experience know what it's like to play for England in major tournaments. As we've been getting better the expectation gets higher and that's been no different.
Some will use it in different ways, some will use it as motivation, some will just block it out and focus on what they need to do. Everyone's different. From a team point of view we know what we need to achieve. We have a really important game, a really tough game we need to be ready for. We've prepared for that.

Gareth Southgate on reports that Netherlands fans will outnumber England

I think our players are used to it. The atmosphere in the stadiums has been great this tournament and it's added a different feel and intesity to the games. I'm sure our fans will make themselves heard and it will be a colourful occasion. These occasions is why we're involved in football and we're looking forward to stepping up.

Gareth Southgate on substitutions

There are different reasons for making changes. We were happy with the way the team were playing in previous games but we have made a sub at half time, it's not pre-conditioned.
You are always looking at the freshness of the team and the balance of the team and whether changes are going to make an improvement to the team or not. But all of the players go into the game in good condition. The game will take us in a certain direction that will make that decision for us.

Harry Kane on whether extra-time should be scrapped

It's a good question, I'm not quite sure to be honest. There have been some great moments in extra time and there are times when both teams are tired and waiting for penalties. I don't mind it, it always feels amazing when you come through it and you give everything you can. But ultimately it's not in my hands so I'm sure whoever makes those decisions will make the right one.

Gareth Southgate on the referee's history with Jude Bellingham

No, I think everybody knows how I deal with refs, with complete respect for every referee. I know the two guys at UEFA who have been running the refs programme and I think they appreciate the respect we have shown as a team to officials over eight years.
I think there’s a right way to conduct yourself towards officials and I think that’s very important for the game. So no, I’m not concerned about who the ref is. He will be at a very high standard because that’s the way UEFA make those decisions and the way they monitor games during the tournament. So, for me, it’s not even a consideration.

Harry Kane on the threat of Wout Weghorst and Memphis Depay

'Obviously they're two totally different strikers, they both bring something different to the Dutch team. We need to be careful and they're two really good strikers, being in a semi-final of a European Championships means they're doing something well. But we're focusing on what we can do well.'
