New footage shows Cristiano Ronaldo pushing away pitch invader during Portugal's win over Turkey before fan is dealt with by security... in match where star forward was approached by SIX selfie-hunting supporters

New footage has emerged showing Cristiano Ronaldo pushing a pitch invader away while Portugal were still level at 0-0 in their Euro 2024 clash with Turkey on Saturday.

Portugal won 3-0 and have secured their place in the knockout stages of the competition.

Ronaldo received much praise for taking a selfie with a young boy who ran onto the pitch late in the game.

10-year-old Berat avoided punishment from the tournament's organisers, while several fans entered the pitch in the closing stages of the game as they attempted to get close to Ronaldo.

However, earlier in the game Ronaldo didn't have time to engage with fans as he pushed away a supporter who had entered the pitch.

After Ronaldo pushed him away, the pitch invader was pounced upon by security, who dealt with him in a heavy-handed manner.

UEFA are set to launch an investigation into the scenes that saw Ronaldo approached by six pitch invaders.

After the game, Portugal star Bernardo Silva stated that he wasn't concerned by what happened.

Silva said: 'I'm not really concerned, it's just a bit annoying in terms of always having to stop the game because a fan enters the pitch.

'Thats the price you pay for being so recognised in the world of football and having player like [Ronaldo] with us. In terms of feeling endangered, not me personally I don't think.'

However, Portugal boss Roberto Martinez criticised the incidents.

He said: 'It is a concern. Today the intentions of the fans were good. We all love a fan who recognises the big stars and icons.

'But you [must] understand there's a difficult moment if their intentions are wrong. We need to be careful. It shouldn't happen - there's a lot of security.

'We should give a message to the fans also because it is not the right way. It may get worse for the future. It's not good to have the players so exposed on the pitch.'

Silva gave Portugal the lead, with an own goal from Samet Akaydin making it 2-0 before Bruno Fernandes added a third.

As Ronaldo attempted to leave the pitch stewards formed a circle around him and his Portugal colleagues.

UEFA have subsequently stated that they will be increasing security measures at Euro 2024.

The statement read: 'Safety and security on the pitch, and team facilities, are the ultimate priority for UEFA, the German FA and Euro 2024 organisers.

'To this end additional safety measures will be deployed in stadiums to further meet requirements of the tournament and to prevent such incidents happening.

'For security reasons we cannot comment further on specific safety measures.

'As a reminder, any incursion onto the pitch represents a breach of stadium rules and will result in an expulsion, a ban from remaining tournament matches, and the filing of a criminal report.'
