  • Luke Shaw was selected for England's Euro 2024 squad despite carrying injury
  • The Manchester United left-back has not played a minute since mid-February
  • LISTEN to It's All Kicking Off! ‘There’s not much positivity that he will play’ - why did Gareth Southgate pick Luke Shaw?

Gareth Southgate's decision to select Luke Shaw for Euro 2024 despite his lack of fitness has raised eyebrows.

England have so far failed to live up to expectations, edging out Serbia in a 1-0 win before a disappointing 1-1 draw with Denmark.

Right-back Kieran Trippier started both games at left-back instead of Shaw, who continues to recover from a hamstring injury on a personal programme, having not played a minute of action for England or Manchester United since mid-February.

Ahead of the third and final group game against Slovenia on Tuesday, Ian Ladyman claimed the selection of Shaw was worth the risk in the latest episode of the It's All Kicking Off! podcast.

Meanwhile, Mail Sport's chief reporter Sami Mokbel revealed Shaw is not any closer to fitness as he hasn't trained since the middle of last week.
