Soccer Aid will return for its latest edition on Sunday evening, with a host of famous faces set to take part in the popular charity football match at Stamford Bridge.

It all began back in 2006 after being created by pop star Robbie Williams, with proceeds from the match going to the children's charity, UNICEF.

Eighteen years later, Soccer Aid is still going strong and has even become more popular over time. Having originally taken place every two years, it has been held annually since 2018.

Huge names have signed up to play again this year, with the likes of four-time Olympic champion Sir Mo Farah, cricketing legend Stuart Broad and boxing promoter Eddie Hearn representing England, while Eden Hazard, Tony Bellew and Tommy Fury will feature for the Rest of the World XI.

Well, thanks to generous public donations, Soccer Aid has raised more than £90m since 2006.

Last year's event was the most successful yet as an astonishing £14.6m was donated - a record-breaking figure.

If that number can be repeated or even bettered this time around, the grand total will move way beyond the £100m mark since Soccer Aid's inception.

Stamford Bridge will host Soccer Aid for the second time on Sunday, having first staged the charity fixture in 2019.

The World XI won that day on penalties, which marked the start of their current five-match winning streak against England.

Overall, they hold the edge in the head-to-head record - winning seven matches to England's five.

But raising money for UNICEF remains the priority, and another record-breaking night could see Soccer Aid hit a huge landmark that would scarcely have been believable when it started almost two decades ago.
