Holidaymakers stranded at Heathrow have hunkered down for the night in the terminal after storms across the Atlantic forced dozens of flights to be cancelled. Photos show passengers in Terminal 5 trying to get some sleep on the hard plastic chairs as many were not able to stay in the hotel opposite. Holidaymakers were spotted surrounded by their luggage and trollies in an otherwise deserted terminal as they settled down for the night. Torrential rain has been blamed a flight meltdown at Gatwick and Heathrow on Monday that left 125 planes grounded.

Last week, Amelia Shean heard a knock at her door, but when her boyfriend went to answer it, they discovered it wasn't for either of them. 'We have an antique door knocker,' she explains. 'It's very heavy and people were using it as part of their shot. They were holding it to stage a photograph, and they'd let it fall so it sounded like someone was knocking.' It's not the first time something like this has happened. 'We also had a man walking past the window again and again until he knocked on the door to ask if he could come and take a look around inside,' she says.

Scarlett Vickers was found fatally injured at a house in, Darlington, County Durham, by the emergency services shortly after 11pm on Friday, just hours after a neighbour claims to have had a 'normal conversation' about shopping with her mother. The schoolgirl was pronounced dead at the semi-detached property after succumbing to a single stab wound to the chest, a court heard today. This morning her father Simon Vickers, 49, and mother Sarah Hall, 44, appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court charged with murder.

Taylor Fritz's girlfriend sparked a Wimbledon feud by appearing to take aim at Alexander Zverev after his five-set defeat by the American on Monday. Zverev responded by accusing members of Fritz's box of going 'over the top' during the 13th seed's  stunning comeback from two sets down. The German, who was last year accused in court documents of physically abusing a woman in 2020, agreed to a settlement in the case last month. He agreed to pay Brenda Patea, the mother of his child, $217,820, but was found not guilty of any wrongdoing (Patea publicly identified herself as the victim in the case).

The second week of Wimbledon kicked off on Monday attracting a slew of stars keen to catch some tennis action. Nicole Scherzinger turned heads as she took her seat at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in south London, wearing a busty low-cut dress.  The singer, 46, wore a tight fitting linen dress with a busty, low-cut, square neckline and huge sunglasses.

The 29-year-old sported a black ribbon pinned to her whites for her fourth-round match in commemoration of the lives lost to a Russian missile strike which targeted a children's hospital in Kyiv on Monday morning. Svitolina was visibly emotional after claiming the 6-2, 6-1 victory, in tears after claiming the 6-2, 6-1 defeat, stating that it had been 'hard to focus' on the match at hand. 

Raducanu played it safe after waking up with soreness in her wrist, pulling out of her partnership commitment to Murray as she focused on her own singles push. Yet the 21-year-old's tournament ended on Sunday in a 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 loss to New Zealand qualifier Lulu Sun, a fourth-round defeat in which she was seen clutching both her ankle and back with one medical timeout called after a nasty slip in the deciding set on Centre Court. Raducanu had faced some criticism over the weekend and initially appeared to draw the ire of Judy Murray, who later claimed she was being sarcastic when she sent social media into a spin on Saturday by describing her withdrawal as 'astonishing'.

Paul Mason, from Ipswich, opened up about his fluctuating weight - admitting he's now 36 stone and bedridden, but determined to still enjoy life and to help others where he can from making the 'same mistakes' he did. Speaking to The Mirror , he said: 'A doctor once told me I would be lucky to make 40 and now here I am, nearly a pensioner. 'I may not walk again now but I am at one with that. I just want to use my time to help others and make sure they don't make the same mistakes I did.' He previously dropped down to 19 stone after finding love and having a gastric bypass operation in 2010. But he piled on the pounds again after the break down of his relationship with American Rebecca Mountain, who was 13 years his junior.

Ladislav Boldezersky, 56, and his partner Nada Venglarova, 43, who is five months pregnant, were sleeping on a divan bed next to a busy roundabout near the centre of Cardiff for over a month. Their temporary shelter under the A4234 Central Link flyover also featured a bedside cabinet which they used to store a cooking pot and bottles of milk and water. The couple, who are from Czechia, were kicked out of a nearby hostel after it emerged that Nada does not have a passport. But despite being given a temporary place to stay, Ladislav, who has contemplated suicide due to he and his partner's living arrangements, still fears they may be homeless when their baby arrives.

Sir Ian McKellen hid his neck brace with a scarf on a trip to the shops as he continued to recover following his shocking fall off stage. The legendary actor, 85, was playing John Falstaff in a production of Player Kings at the Noel Coward Theatre in London's West End on June 17 when he lost his footing in a fight scene and plunged from the stage into the audience. Sir Ian spent three nights in hospital and was forced to withdraw from the show's tour  after suffered injuries to wrist and neck.

Mikaela Lafuente, 22, accused Kanye (seen right with wife Bianca in March) of messaging her on Instagram earlier this year asking her to 'hang out' and listen to his new album. The model and influencer, who is dating 24-year-old TikTok star Bryce Hall, slammed the singer-songwriter for being 'inappropriate' and pointing out that, at 47 years old, he's over twice her age. Beryl's centre hit land as a Category 1 hurricane around 4am Central Standard Time, about 85 miles south-west of Houston with top sustained winds of 80mph while moving north at 12mph. Gusty winds, heavy rainfall, storm surge and tornadoes will continue across much of Texas today as Beryl moves inland. Forecasters predict a total of 5 to 10 inches of rain, with isolated totals reaching up to 15 inches in some areas. More than 250,000 homes and businesses are without power this morning and thousands of people living in the storm's path have been encouraged to evacuate.

German track star Alica Schmidt, previously dubbed 'the world's sexiest athlete', found out her 2024 Olympic Games fate over the weekend in a video she posted to social media. The 25-year-old Schmidt was given the 'world's sexiest athlete' by Australian magazine Busted Coverage in 2017. She's gone viral on social media several times since with over seven million followers on Instagram and TikTok combined.
