The Mr England contest is said to be in crisis over a shortage of male entries, prompting a plea by the newly-crowned beauty queen Miss England. 

Attractive single men are said to be 'shy and slow' in putting themselves forward for this year's contest, missing out on the chance to become Mr World. 

Now Milla Magee, the new Miss England, has taken to her local Cornish beach with a surfboard adorned with a wanted posted to attract 'handsome men'. 

Angie Beasley, who runs Miss England, said: 'We launched the Mr England contest about three weeks ago but so far only 20 guys have come forward. 

'So we enlisted the help of the current Miss England, Cornish life-guard Milla, who couldn't wait to scout lifeguards in Newquay.'

Milla, 23, said: 'I will be looking for someone who is kind and passionate about representing our country. He must be a positive role model.'  

It comes after Miss England finalists recently shared their imperfections showing acne, blemishes and weight gain as part of a campaign to highlight natural beauty.

The British beauty queens bravely shared photos showing their flaws as part of an 'Instagram versus Reality' campaign ahead of the final this month.

Contestants have shown off the less than perfect snaps showing how reality is different to what is often portrayed on social media.
