Carcoar car crash: Driver killed in horror outback smash as ute towing trailer hits truck and horse float

A driver has been killed following a horror crash between a ute and truck that sent both vehicles careening off the road.

Emergency services received reports of a two-car crash on the Mid-Western Highway in Carcoar, south-west of Bathurst in NSW, at about 1:25pm on Monday.

A man, aged in his 60s, was found dead at the scene. He had been driving the ute with a trailer attached to the back of it.

The driver of a Pantech truck, which was towing a horse float, was not injured in the crash while two passengers, a boy and a girl, received minor injuries.

The Mid-Western Highway has been closed to heavy vehicles between Mandurama and Blayney as police launch an investigation into the collision.

While light vehicles are still permitted, drivers have been urged to allow extra travel time as diversions and hazardous road conditions remain in place.

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.

Anyone with information or dashcam footage related to the crash has been urged to contact police.
