A world renowned make-up artist has revealed the three mistakes women make which 'add years to their face'.
Wayne Goss, who was made famous by his transformational make-up tutorials on Youtube, told FEMAIL the three mistakes are 'easy to fix'.
The problem is most people don't realise where they have gone wrong.
'The majority of us will be using make-up to help improve how we look, or even help cover up some of the wrinkles we've gained over the years,' he explained.
'However, due to some mistakes, the make-up that we're wearing could actually be having the opposite effect, and could potentially be adding not just one or two, but up to 10 years to our face.'
Wearing metallic eyeshadow, the wrong concealer and failing to prime your face for foundation are the most common, aging mistakes.
Avoid metallic eyeshadow
Mr Goss says to opt for classic matte eyeshadows over the edgier metallic colours.
Skin becomes dryer as we age, so choosing hydrating ingredients is increasingly important
'Matte generally works best as it doesn't draw attention to wrinkled areas or creases,' he said.
Metallic eyeshadows clings to fine lines which makes them stand out instead of concealing them.
The type of concealer
Wayne wants people to be more particular about their concealer.
'Generally speaking, people may go too light around the eyes with their concealer which can add years to your face, so it's really important to get the colour that suits your skin tone,' he said.
Wayne always recommends cream concealer above liquid versions and says you should apply some on the inner corner of your eye as that's the one part of the eye that never creases.
Always hydrate and use a primer
Skin becomes dryer with age, so choosing hydrating ingredients is important and can make or break your 'look'.
'Look for make-up ingredients such as Hyaluronic acid when you're on your next make-up and skincare shopping hail to ensure that your products are keeping your skin hydrated,' Wayne Goss said
Wayne suggests using makeup with ingredients like hyaluronic acid to help keep the skin hydrated.
You should also start with a heavy moisturiser before applying make-up which will plump up skin, making it look more youthful.
Wayne stressed that investing in a good primer to go on top of the moisturiser and under the make-up in crucial.
Primers act as a smooth based 'barrier' between the make-up and the skin.
This will 'help the make-up stay in the right places all day, rather than just in the fine lines,' he said.
