The clip of the tea was shared on Instagram as the content creator, who went by the name of Miss Cha, revealed her true thoughts on the drink.

She said: 'Drink this to lose weight but only if you are strong enough.

'Only the strong survive.'

The viral clip, which has so far amassed more than 186,000 likes, sparked many people on the web to recall their own encounters with the tea.

One person wrote: 'First of all, I called my boyfriend to come to my house I sat on the toilet as he sat on the tub while holding my hand. I seriously thought I was going to pass out because I felt so weak and sweating like crazy. I thought my heart would stop… I know this tea isn't safe....'

Someone else said: It works. It clears you out y'all. You have to be strong. I was at work in the bathroom with my wig off.'

One user added: 'Six hours after drinking... you will experience labor pains.... but you will get skinny.'

Another person commented: 'I woke up in the middle of the night sweating. I never rocked so much on a toilet. I told god I would never do this again. But I definitely had a flat stomach. One bag at a time y'all.'

'This will give you the worst stomach cramps ever. You will poop out the lunch you had in second grade. It is better to just exercise and eat clean rather than put your body through this sort of torture lol,' one commenter chimed in.

One person added: 'I drank it on the way to work and no lie I had to pull over and s*** on a rock. I think I went to a different dimension because when I woke back up I was on the toilet at my house. '

Another user added: 'Woke up from stabbing pains… almost fainted on the way to the bathroom. Made it to the toilet then I ended up just lying on the bathroom floor for a good hour.'

'Hell no!!! That tea bag will have you surfing between dimensions, on the bowl having conversations with ya favorite aunt that passed…. I'm tryna tell you, you got to be strong in the spirit to take that, make sure if you do take it, you in good standing with the lord…. Oh and place your bible next to the bowl for comfort scriptures start with psalms 23:4,' one user commented.

DailyMail.com has contacted Truong Giang Corp, the makers of 3 Ballerina Herbal Tea.

The 3 Ballerina Herbal Tea, which contains senna and Chinese mallow, is sold online at Amazon for $11.95, which is the cost of two boxes.

The green tea is said to be 'unflavored' and claims to act as a 'soothing and relaxing' way for people to get slim without hitting the gym.

Senna and Chinese mallow are both normally used for their laxative properties and have two mechanisms: speeding up digestion and creating an osmotic effect, which sees electrolytes being released into your colon, increasing the flow of water, to soften stools, according to Healthline.

Reviewers on Amazon described the side effects of the tea as 'not fun.'

Drinking 3 Ballerina tea may cause unwanted side effects, such as abdominal cramps, dehydration, and mild to severe diarrhea, Healthline reported.

'Moreover, one study determined that prolonged use of senna products caused diarrhea in rats and increased toxicity in kidney and liver tissues,' it said.

'Therefore, scientists advised that people with kidney and liver diseases should not use these products.'
