The company behind the popular franchise, EA Games, announced late last month that a free new update was coming out on July 25 - and that it will allow characters to date multiple people simultaneously for the first time.
News that the option for players to make their Sims non-monogamous was being added quickly went viral on social media and people on the web could hardly contain their excitement.
'Free for all players is the new Romantic Boundaries system that will allow you to customize your Sim's experience with boundaries and jealousy,' reads a press release about the upcoming addition.
'You can now define how your Sims approach romantic relationships in terms of physical and emotional romantic exclusivity.

Immediately, X, formerly Twitter, was flooded with reactions to the announcement.
Some people said they felt 'represented' by the new option, while others simply joked that they were excited to 'spice things up' for their characters.
'Finally, this is perfect for Sims who can't commit to one Sim. Sometimes I like to spice things up in my game,' one person wrote.

'Your Sims will be able to hunt for the best spot to try the romantic blanket in the city's gardens, dance until morning at their favorite night club, or even experience the beautiful simplicity of sitting together to watch the stars,' according to EA Games.
