British woman slammed for video criticising 'normal Turkish breakfast' at five star resort in Antalya - and told to 'go to Benidorm' instead

A woman has been slammed by social media users and told to go 'to Benidorm' after leaving negative comments about 'normal Turkish breakfast' at holiday resort in Antalya.

The British TikToker, who uses the handle @sickofbeingskint1, has taken to the app to share a video of the breakfast buffet at the Crystal Family Resort in Turkey, telling others 'not to bother'.

'I wouldn't bother guys, the food is not up to par. It's supposed to be a five star resort but there's the same food in the buffet restaurant everyday,' she told viewers at the start of the video and the camera pans across a wide variety of breakfast options

'They offer soup for breakfast, cheeses and hams.

'There's scrambled eggs mixed with tomatoes, minced beef, peppers, really random stuff,' she described of the breakfast buffet at the five-star resort.

The two minute clip revealed a number of hot and cold food stations offering a selection of cheeses, meats, as well as several varieties of eggs, one shown with tomatoes and another with milk.

'It's really not good, we're not fussy or picky people but we are foodies.

'When you spend nearly £3,000 after hard graft on a holiday and you're served with that everyday, it's really disheartening.

'We're not very happy at all. This is just not good, really not good.'

The TikToker revealed a number of breakfast items kept in heat proof containers, apparently disappointed with the selection.

They spotted tomatoes with melted cheese, 'random little sausages', a tray of bulgur wheat, chicken sausages, and eggs with chopped tomatoes.

'It's just not what you'd expect for breakfast, really not that great,' she said.

In another part of the video, the video shows two large pots of steaming soup, a traditional Turkish breakfast choice.

Looking inside the pots of soup, the user concluded the clip saying 'For breakfast guys? No!'

However, viewers of the video were quick to come to the defense of the breakfast buffet, slamming the TikToker for criticising the traditional menu options.

Clearly outraged, one user wrote: 'Best you go to Benidorm' while another suggested Butlins, writing: 'Gosh, you should have gone to Skegness.'

A third commented: 'Looks great, a lot of choice and different to what you have at home - just what I'd expect when going on holiday

Another said: 'Looks banging! I love scrambled eggs and tomatoes. Maybe try McDonald's if you're that fussy!'

Commenters were quick to correct the social media user, informing her that eating soup for for breakfast is common in Turkey.

One wrote: 'Soup is normal to Turkish breakfast. So is menemen (scrambled eggs with tomato).'

According to Aylin Tan, author of A Taste of Sun and Fire: Gaziantep Cookery, soup became a popular breakfast choice for Turks who were poor, since it is cheap and easy to make.

The dish is now commonly served at breakfast in Turkey, alongside cheeses, doughy seasame simit bread, different kinds of eggs, olive spreads, and fruit jams, according to Food and Wine

One example of Turkish breakfast dish is beyran, is a traditional soup which uses lamb; another popular choice is Ezogelin, a lentil soup that is still a favourite of rural Turkish farmers, according to Eater.

Another dish the TikToker turned her nose up at, turned out to be another Turkish breakfast classic.

The offending dish of scrambled eggs and tomatoes, is actually a popular morning staple called menemen - somtimes dubbed the Turkish omelete.

The dish usually incorporates scrambled eggs with peppers and tomatoes and other spices.

The video has amassed over half a million views since it was posted, along with 4,200 comments slamming the social media user for being too picky over 'normal Turkish breakfast'.

The creator made a follow-up video in response, writing: 'Wow wow!! Thank you for all the views on my previous video!! Insane!!

'Mainly negative responses, which I'm totally ok with! So many people assuming that I want chicken nuggets and chips.

'Ironically at the a la carte Mexican set menu they served chips and chicken nuggets, we walked out!! Like I've said before, I've been to Turkey before and it was fantastic, this isn't!!!'

MailOnline has reached out to Crystal Family Resort for comment.

It comes after the report of a young British couple of fussy eaters spent £300 to bring an extra suitcase of snacks on their all-inclusive holiday to Egypt.

John Phillips, 40, took a shocking 21 Pot Noodles, 86 bags of crisps, two packets of bacon, a pack of 30 sausages, cans of tuna, a block of cheese and brown sauce to his £1,400 trip last year.

And to satisfy the picky eater's sweet tooth, his wife Rebecca, 29, added an extra 30 Club Biscuit bars, 16 bags of sweets and breakfast bars.

Rebecca said the additional luggage 'doesn't annoy her' as she claimed she wouldn't enjoy the trip if her hubby wasn't eating.

The mum-of-one began packing the dried goods for John three years ago when he refused to eat anything but chips during their trips abroad.
