About Corona’s Mission to Protect Our Beaches
Through a combination of beach cleanups and thoughtful changes across our business, we aim to remove 1 million pounds of plastic from the beach and our business by 2025. Our beach cleanups are focused on removing plastic from the beach to help divert it from ending up in the ocean and our waterways. At the same time, our business is focused on identifying areas where we can transition away from plastic and help reach a total of 1 million pounds of plastic.

High Impact Cleanups:
Annual cleanups with professional cleanup crews focused on removing significant quantities of waste from one highly polluted and/or hard-to-reach location per year. The average amount of waste collected in these high impact cleanups has been ~27,000+ lbs per cleanup to date.

2023: TEXAS 33,800 LBS OF PLASTIC REMOVED.
2023: The Coastal Bend collects more trash per every mile of Texas beach than any other Gulf state. For our third high impact cleanup in Corpus Christi, United by Blue removed over 31,278 lbs of plastic waste and cleaned hundreds of miles of cherished beaches on Texas’s Gulf Coast.
2022: CALIFORNIA 16,941 LBS OF PLASTIC REMOVED
2022: The biodiversity-rich Channel Islands off the coast of California are home to hard-to-reach beaches that require specialized technologies and expertise to clean. Our second high impact cleanup with United by Blue removed over 16, 941 lbs of plastic waste from these remote islands as well as the nearby Santa Maria Riverbed.
2021: FLORIDA 31,278 LBS OF PLASTIC REMOVED
2021: Florida’s South Dade Wetlands are an environmentally endangered area near Miami with over 20 threatened species and over 700 species of wildlife! Together with the cleanup experts at United by Blue, our first high impact cleanup removed over 31,278 lbs of plastic waste to help protect the beach and local marine life.
Our High Impact cleanups take place in some of the country’s heavily polluted beaches. While our focus is on plastic, over the years cleanups have uncovered everything from plastic wrappers and fishing nets to refrigerators and electronics at these beach locations. In addition to removing the waste from the beach, the professional cleanup crews we work with sort through the various types of trash they encounter, and repurpose, recycle and/or dispose of it in accordance with the protocols and waste management regulations in each location.
How Corona is Taking Action
80% of plastic comes from land-based sources. To address this, we’ve been spearheading high impact cleanups of America’s most polluted beaches. Since 2020, we’ve also been hosting community cleanup events at beaches around the country so that we can all help out together.
But that’s not all. We’ve been taking an even closer look at our business practices and working to meet the criteria outlined in Oceanic Global’s Blue Standard to reduce unnecessary plastics and replace them with sustainable alternatives.

JOIN A COMMUNITY BEACH CLEANUP
Community beach cleanups bring people together who care about the planet to make an impact on their local communities. Together with Oceanic Global, we’re hosting 100 cleanups in local communities nationwide by 2025. At 50 beaches cleaned so far, we’re already halfway there!
Similar to our High Impact cleanups, we work with cleanup experts and local partners to sort, repurpose, and recycle the waste we collect from our community cleanups with the goal of sending as little to landfill as possible.*
Since a large quantity of what we find on the beach is non-recyclable plastic, we are also looking internally at our own business practices to identify areas we can transition away from plastic and help reduce plastic pollution at the source.

DISCOVER OUR INTERNAL PLASTIC REDUCTION EFFORTS
Protecting our Beaches means doing what we can to keep plastic off the beach both now and in the future. Through our internal plastic reduction efforts, we’re playing our part to help stop plastics at the source. With the guidance of our partner, Oceanic Global, and the criteria outlined within their award-winning Blue Standard, we’re taking measures to avoid the use of unnecessary plastics and to move towards more sustainable alternatives across our business (think events, packaging, merchandise, to name a few!)
We began evaluating our plastic use with the guidance of Oceanic Global in 2020. Since then, we have been reducing the use of unnecessary plastics and replacing them with more sustainable alternatives wherever possible. So far, we have moved away from using 863,068 lbs of plastic within our business, and we’re just getting started.
Corona is committed to constantly learning and improving. Together with Oceanic Global, we will continue to evaluate our business, better our practices where we can, and take on new opportunities to Protect Our Beaches.
