About
Education is one of the primary missions of the American Academy of Clinical Toxicology. We strive to be innovators in education as well as scientific excellence. ToxLab is a way to share education techniques or knowledge with a broad audience, solicit feedback, or workshop new ideas! ToxLab is a format of symposia to showcase education techniques, topics, technology, and/or research. Have you developed the perfect simulation to teach about snake bites or found the best audience response system to teach a kindergarten class about methemoglobinemia? We want to hear about it!
Submission Guidelines:
- Subject matter should focus on education techniques, unique education sessions, materials, technology, or presentation of toxicology education research.
- Sessions will be held as interactive sessions, with multiple presenters describing their projects simultaneously in a convention-style manner allowing learners to move between presenters to interact and ask questions.
- Submissions may be made by any educator regardless of level of training, job title, or degree.
- Submissions must include:
- Session title
- Brief description of session
- Learning objectives
- Needs assessment
NACCT 2024 session or pre-symposium organizers should have received an email notification regarding their session proposal's acceptance on April 15. If you did not receive this notification, email nacct@clintox.org.
Session organizers must upload their session speakers via this form by August 1. After the August 1 deadline, speakers will be uploaded into the Whova app, enabling them to upload a photo and a bio to be associated with the session.
All session organizers and speakers must sign a COI form to present at the NACCT meeting. Speakers will receive a link to this form on August 2. Session organizers and speakers can also sign the COI form by clicking here.
All meeting attendees have the option to add continuing education credits to their registration.
All applicants registered for CME will receive an email at the conclusion of the 2024 Congress with a link to check off their list of sessions attended and complete the overall conference evaluation before they print their certificates.
Learning Objectives

- Highlight the role of a multi-center regional poison control center in the response to the Norfolk Southern freight train derailment that resulted in a significant toxicological public health emergency.
- Introduce attendees to innovative teaching strategies including hands-on simulation, and audience response systems to engage learners being introduced to toxicology.
